7-string J-customs are back in 2010 - RG8527Z

After a break of a few years, they're back for 2010 - 7 string J-customs.

Dimarzio pickups (glad they've moved away from the Tone Zone in mahogany -
I wonder what the PAFR-7 pickups are that are listed? Not seen them listed on Dimarzio's site yet.)

Looks like the slightly wider and chunkier necks of the RG8327 rather than the slimmer neck of the old RG8527 model from 2002/2004. Both profiles are great anyway, if noticeably different.

Moot point if Ibanez is going to block the export of JCustoms now.

Are you talking about a recent change in policy as I thought they've always only been available in Japan and sometimes Europe? But I've never had any problem ordering them from Japan in the past, or from internet dealers.

Yes, Rich says Ibanez has started restricting the exporting of any JCustoms out of Japan, at least from authorized dealers.

I couldn't find the other thread to post the confirmation, which was a little different than I expected anyway.

Most of the manufacturers including Ibanez have never allowed their
authorized dealers to sell their new items internationally. We have once
operated "add-in-cart" order form system in English for international
customers but we had to withdraw it by a pressure of manufacturers.
After that, we have tried to sell them internationally as "secret
business". However, the secret business was not easy. We had to spend
our labor to correspondent with customers much more than we expected.
Thus, we unwillingly decided to stop international business.

Unfortunately, I do not know if the other dealers sell an Ibanez item
internationally.
I am sorry we cannot be of any assistance for you.

Man I want one of those!

What's the best way to go about sourcing one? Trip to Japan?

From Ishibashi website:

"ATTENTION

This site serves customers who live in Japan. If you live outside of Japan, please visit our **** site. Thank you"

and

"Please stop sales out of Japan with January 25, 2010 by circumstances indeed excuse me. Please acknowledge it humbly."

It seems we cannot buy from Ishibashi anymore. But I don't think Kurosawa has any shipping restrictions.

Yeah im not following much either, if their is such a high demand out side of Japan for these sort of high end quality guitars why would you not

A. Offer them.
B. Offer a custom shop option, it seems with the demand it would be profitable.

Just my 2cents.

The more they try and restrict, the more people will want them, eventually someone will crack under the pressure of making money, and someone will eventually sell them...

and what I dont understand is why they have J Custom and prestige... Why not just the same high quality and colors for the entire world...

I believe Rich said all Japanese authorized dealers have to stop exporting them as new guitars. We'll still have to see how this affects the aftermarket. I don't think we'll see them selling new guitars as used just to sell them outside Japan.

also moot if they don't hurry up and reinstitute the edge/lo-pro edge on j-customs.
i would sell of most of the herd to get this one if it had a lo-pro edge.

I have 3 J Customs with the Edge zero and it works great!

I'm betting the first batch of those seven stringers will go for around 2800 US! Yikes........

Should I sell my 6 string J Custom to get one of these? What do you reckon?

Seriously considering it...
