I guess I should've specified. Are there any that are available now that are made out of mahogany, preferrably Prestige series or other higher end guitars? Thanks.

the K7 is the only model still being produced in mohogany, but if u can find a gently used 2027 or 2127 itll much worth it, but if you dont have any complaints about usin korns guitar by all means go for it, personally i think it just gets alot of flack for the huge k7 logo on it.

The Dean Evo Special 7 is no longer being made, but you can still find an occasional one on eBay. I love mine. Mahogany with a maple top, set/thru neck.

I just ordered a Fernandes 7 for $299 with the Sustainer pickup. Fernandes is closing them out. It has an alder body. If anyone else has tried one of these, post your thoughts of what I'm in for (I've never played one, but couldn't pass it up for the price).

The Epiphone LP7s if you can find them also have an alder body if memory serves, as do a few Schecter models.

Otherwise, I have had no complaints with my non-basswood 7s. I like the RG7CST, as I grew up as a Les Paul player, and the maple and mahogany do it for me. I am also a fan of the tone of my K7, although I could do without the inlay, but the 540S7 doesn't do as much for me (probably because I like the feel of the RG body better).

Cheers,
Butch

As far as production models, there really isn't too much too choose from, but I have made them in basswood, mohagony, alder, ash, hard maple and even lacewood ;-)

Oh yeah, and the Dean EVO special 7 is mahagony with quilt top. I've heard great things about it.

If it doesn't have to be an Ibanez, Carvin offers 7s with a wide variety of neck and body woods.

I think the Jackson Dinky 7 is Alder (but it may be poplar).

What I think would be really cool is if Ibanez were to revive the Ghostrider series, and make a 7-string just like the GR-320 black, body and neck binding with tele-style bridge.
