Mmmmmm...
Until I get her I dont know, but I didnt intend to. I like the single coil sounds Andy gets And unless the frets need serious atention.......

Should this be moved to the US Custom section?????

Nice guitar. Strange having a "filled" trem cavity...wonder if that's reversible? BTW, the builder's name is Mike Lipe...he's still building some nice guitars:

Thanks for the link. Yeah, the fill in looks a bit bogus, but I really like the idea of a hard tail....I think my w**king days are coming to an end

Nice guitars.....too bad most of them are clones of the old faithfuls.

Just wanted to add saliva to the drooling here. I just took delivery of said Timmons guitar for my good amigo Julio (the guy was nervous about shipping to Spain). It's on its way Julio, I swear!!!! ;-)

The guitar is pretty cool, definitely has its own vibe. The pickups sound excellent, I was impressed with the tones, and that's with dead strings, and only a volume control and 5-way switch. The look is neat too, kind of a menacing blacked out look (even though the finish is a dark blueburst).

I agree with you guys, the bridge is a bit hokey - I can't imagine it was done by the Ibanez Custom Shop - very amateurish but hey, it works.

The neck needs some minor loving care (it's filthy and a little rough-feeling). It feels nice in the hand though, and the fretwork is very tidy. The ebony board is nice too of course.

I feel like a better player already just from having Andy's guitar in my hands. Another nice touch: the case has flight tags on it with Andy's name! Way cool. Even part of an address tag that he filled out.

Later,
G

Yo!
I emailed Mike Lipe. This is what I got back:

Hello:
Yes that guitar belonged to Andy and he used it all the time. When I first made the guitar for him the tremelo was very important in the style of most the Rock or Heavy Metal Dudes. After he changed his style of Music and wanted more sustain and tone, thats when I blocked off the tremelo. The pickup I beleive was a PAF Pro. By the way the guitar is made out of Swamp Ash not Alder.
Good luck with the guitar. Andy is one of the greatest guy you would ever want to meet. I'm sure there is alot of good Karma in that guitar.
Let me know if you ever want a guitar built for you
Yours Truly
Mike Lipe (Lippy)

It was very nice of him to get back to me
