I'd rather no inlay or small offset dots.

I gotta have at least some inlays, myself. I keep getting lost up on the high frets on my S320.

The problem with unmarked or tree of life is that demarcating the 'dotted' from 'undotted' frets becomes difficult. The side dots don't suffice from all angles, for me. Still, I think I'd learn to live with it, if I had that axe! Just saying a custom job for me would probably be that but an 18v mod on the EMGs and some sharkfin or dot inlays. I'd this green burst finish for a personal touch, as well.

Re: Another new 2009 J-Custom available: RG8420ZE

I just bought one yesterday in Japan. It blew my mind! I had a competition going on with the PGM reissue and this one, but the jcustom really was something else. It is a absolutely maginificent guitar for metal and heavy rock.

simply unbeliableIf you are looking for precise specs, the guitar in question is RG 8420ZE in Purple Amethyst.

The thing is, when I play, I'm looking at the dots at the binding edges, not leaning over and looking at the vines, especially when playing live. Seriously, they shouldn't be getting in your way or confusing one when playing.

That's the thing. After some time I realized that I anyway only look at the top dots - I also had offset dot guitars for over a decade as main instruments, that must have kinda trained me. I only really noticed that for the first time when I got my J Custom.

I can say first hand that it does NOT feel cheaper. In fact, it feels rather substantial. It holds tune very well, and I haven't heard anybody complain about their EZ breaking on them. Its solid. I DO prefer the Edge Pro, because its an awesome trem, but I don't have any serious complaints about the EZ.

ah maybe i was a bit hasty on my comments about the ez trem,i didnt have the rg2550z very long, but it did feel flimsy compared to other trems ive used, maybe i didnt give it a chance.im not keen on prestige series but i really like j-custom's

It feels cheaper to me. I tried a couple of the galaxy white RG2550Zs and didn't purchase either because the trem feels (and looks) cheap

Re: Another new 2009 J-Custom available: RG8420ZE

I doubt that there's any way that they've used a cheaper version on the Prestiges than the J-Customs, but I also played a 2550 with the EZ and thought that it was awful... that was my introduction to the EZ. That was also the only bad experience I've had with one.

I've got my list of complaints about the EZ, but bottom line is there's no way they should be putting them on their top shelf guitar line [JC's].
