Apex200

I think this is the right subforum for this (oops, guess this should have gone in the not-Universe 7-string subforum? Mods feel free to delete or move. Sorry!). Don't see too many of these, so I thought I'd make a post.

Thing is awesome. I'm a big fan of the neck joint. Just feels better to me than the AANJ. I don't know why. Fretwork is flawless. Just a really nice guitar. I might swap the pickups and/or the pickguard to tamp down the looks a bit. Not sure yet.

Re: Apex200

Yeah the original neckjoints are great. They sound better too IMO.

Thanks! It's interesting. I have a Jem7v7 here too. Same neck woods (5 piece maple/wenge and rosewood board). Same body wood (alder). Same trem. Same bridge pickup. The only differences right now are the neck joint, tone knob on the Jem (loads down the pickup a bit), and string gauge (Jem has 9s, Apex has 10s).

Both sustain really well. But the Apex sounds massive. I'm not sure how much of that is the string gauge and how much is the neck joint. I need to try changing the strings and see.
