Are the 2006 Ibanez RG Prestiges still MIJ?

Hi,

I tried the search function, but it didn't throw up any hits (probably due to my incompetence).

Are the Ibanez Prestige RG's for 2006 still going to be made in Japan (Fujigen Factory)? I've heard some rumours that they announced at Namm that they were moving to Korea, bu since I'm halfway round the world from there, I don't know... Particularly the rga121 (although i assume if one RG prestige goes to Korea, they all will). I'm half thinking about going for one, if the new ones are Korean-made, I'm going to have to get my skates on to make sure of one of last years, lol.

Any idea why i heard that rumour that they were going to be MIK?

I assume someone was just talking rubbish on some of the other forums...

The BS in this forum is better than the BS in other forums. There ARE Korean made Prestige models, but they're all in the S series I believe.

Yep...I just ordered a Korean Prestige. A S2170. It will be here on the 15th. I am picking it up from the local Guitar Center. I will let everyone know if it is crappy.

If it isn't on par, then I am not going to accept it. Tough to turn down a new guitar. Especially after waiting. Oh well.

There was a plan to shift to Korea the whole production because the factory in Japan wanted to cease production (of guitars at least) but somehow that changed in the end .

yeah, i know there are korean prestiges now.

I wasn't talking about this forum, as you can tell from my post count i'm hardly ever in here, lol- i meant someone was BS-ing in another forum/website I go to, lol.

the Korean Prestige units are fine. own 2. however, there are substandard units.
