Hi,

I was looking at Rich' gallery section and I saw this, imo, awesome gold J-custom with birds!

Does anybody know anything more about this guitar? Was it some kind of anniversary model?

Usually all you have to do is go to the sold records and find it

RGGOLD2 - DEAD Mint and exceedingly rare, in fact only 2 I'm aware of so probably a run of 6. As with most of these rare birds specs are a little tough to come by, but, ash body, gold leaf finish, gold leafed headstock, silver metallic sides and back, premium rosewood board, HSH with 5 way switching. pickups are probably Tone Zone (bridge), Blue Velvet (single) and Air Norton (Neck), Heron bird appliqués on the front [The Heron is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and mythology] one appliqué has 2 small air bubbles under it. Original factory Shaller adjustable spring claw "gadget" that adjusts through hole in back plate shown here. In perfect M100.** $1700** GONE** THANKS MICHAEL** 2/13/04

Holy cow, looking at that made my head hurt haha. Two words...bling blang! Quite unusual though, I'd be curious to find out what it is too.

You know, this guitar, to me, is really something that I deem 'worthy' of an anniversary model, you know? Not that is is one, but I have seen an anniversary J-custom one time, which was just like any other apart from the color, which was nothing special at all (translucent blue, iirc). But this, this something special, for sure.

I'm surprised at the price tag, btw. I expected something astronomical.

That price was in 2004 though Alwin. I'm sure it'd fetch a higher price today.

Right... These rare guitars become more valuable as the years pass by, indeed. Well, luckily for me, it's not like I'd want to have one. I'm not purchasing any guitar anymore, of which I know I won't use it regularly. It's such a waste, I feel, to just have a guitar collecting dust in a corner.

I suppose so.

But they cost money.

And I have an Ibanez S that I never use. It just sits there. I should have played it beforehand. If I did, I wouldn't have bought it. It's not the most expensive guitar, but still. Also, guitars take up space, which can become problematic, you know?

There's not much space left

G.A.S. maybe an expensive habit, but it's fun. It struck again last week and I HAD to buy a Peavey XXX combo!

Rich speaks the truth, haha. My GAS has temporarily been checked only because Im completely satisfied with my tone in all respects, and I have one main trem guitar and one string-thru-body, and I'm not touring so no others are necessary. I might go ahead and go for a third custom guitar just for kicks in a year or two, but for now im all set.

I had that guitar for over a year, it's a tough guitar to sell [or was when I had it] as there were not many interested. I believe the buyer resold it on e-bay and it made $1300 or a little better.
