Question

Best lead guitars in the world?

I have been through a few Ibanez guitars so far and tried various others. The best Ibanez I had was a Jem 77FP but I must admit that I believe you end up paying that little bit extra for the Vai tag. I been doing heaps of research from quality guitarists who have been there and done that, I wanted to get some opinions on guitars that are best suited to soloing with nice sustain and yet have that option of being able to play rock and maybe metal as well. What are the BC rich, ESP, Caparison, Washburn nuno, Jackson, Gibson Zakk custom guitars like?
Or other brand names that are highly underrated out there.

I love the Jems, but my economic "station" in life prevents me from paying the outlandish prices. Sigh....maybe someday. I need a new car first.

Thanks!!!

Just kidding; I wish I looked like her. I do more closely resemble her than any other celebrity type, but that is not saying much.

Heeheehee This is the sort of comment I would expect to hear from Wayne and Garth in "Wayne's World".

I actually need a good amp. I'm hoping to go public in the near future.

Re: Best lead guitars in the world?

Well Rob, in some ways it comes down to you get what you pay for (not 100% true, but a fairly good generalisation), and as such I find it hard to go past Parker Flys and PRSs for just all round great feeling, great playing guitars, Suhrs and Andersons are great also, like, really great, but all four of those brands will set you back more than a JEM FP, so go figure.

There is a discontinued Ibanez RG 3120 sitting in a shop in Miranda in Sydney which you'd probably get for about $2K Australian - as a brand new guitar, I think you'd find it hard to get better quality and versatility for that kind of money here - still can't work out why Ibanez discontinued that model - great guitar!

Re: Best lead guitars in the world?

u see I never even heard of Suhr or Anderson guitars till now,
and I have looked into the parker fly guitars they seem to be one of the finest made guitars out
if you had an option of receiving free a new Jem or a new Parker
which would u go for? and what model

Re: Best lead guitars in the world?

Well, I have a Fly Classic, and a couple of JEMs, and the JEMs currently live is a storage unit, whereas the Parker Fly is sitting next to my amp, does that give you an idea....?

Seriously, the JEMs are great, but the Fly is just much more suited to the way I happen to play, it's as simple as that - I have very limited space where I am currently living, so some of the toys had to go back into the closet, but I just enjoy playing the Fly - it's a great guitar to rip on, but equally good for Jazz, Blues, you can even get a passable acoustic tone from the piezo pickups, so in a limited space she's almost a perfect one stop guitar.
