Question

Can someone explain to me what locking studs are and how them work?

And the edge pro bridge has them?

Thank you!

No the Edge Pro doesn't have them but i do sell the mod kits to turn your Edge Pro equipped guitar into a locking stud guitar.

A locking stud has a smaller screw down the middle of it, so you adjust your action by altering the main screw/post to the desired height then insert the small allen key down the middle of the post and tighten the small central screw.

This makes the post go "solid" in the anchor/insert and means it doesn't/can't wobble and thus massively improves tuning stability.....

I don't understand this locking stud issue with the Edge Pro. Although I prefer the older trems to the Edge Pro, I must say, the EP has the best tuning stability I've ever experienced on a trem. And, my trem doesn't have the locking stud thing....

Mine has no issues either.

Ibanezking, that was a good description.

I need to hit the 'bay and find a set with anchors for my Jem project I'm slowly getting together.

It's a **** stripper duo that performs in Vegas. I'm not going to get into how they work

What's the trem before the Edge Pro? Just "Edge?"

Whatever it was.... which I have on my RG550LTD and two RG3120's, it was much less consistent than the Edge Pro. Although slinkier in feel, it definitely goes out of tune much easier on those guitars while my 2003 RG3120, equipped with an Edge Pro, stays in tune much better.

My new J-Custom RG8427F came with locking studs.

Finding a wrench that will fit is another story.

None of the wrenches seemed to fit. I didnt press the issue since the setup was suprising well done and held during shipment.

If it's locking stud it should be a 4mm allen.

Yes. Loosen the middle set screw if you are lowering your action and then tighten it back down. Don't over-tighten it as that will cause other issues, just finger strength tight.

If I got locking studs, would I have to redo my intonation? Thats the one thing I can't do on a floyd
