Can someone identify this ?

Its on evilbay as a RG620QM / RG2550
Im guessing it's a 620 with a 2550 neck on it, it has duncans and gold hardware with a basswood body... its up for 500GBP just wondering what you guys think of it
it caught my eye and im complete sucker for maple finishes especially brown / tobacco

Re: Can someone identify this ?

Looks like a Dimebucker/'59 set up for the humbuckers which is really good if you play metal, or just want a real good lead from the '59 although the basswood seems like it would add to much brightness to the 'buckers

I myself don't like the finish of QM and gold is too flashy

Re: Can someone identify this ?

I'll tell you one thing that's realy odd: the trem pocket is really long. The trem is a Lo-Pro Edge, which is a great trem but doesn't really fit the cavily all that well. Another slight oddity is the volume and tone knobs seem very tall and square-shouldered. Were I to buy that, I'd probably change those out.

The heel of the neck looks really funky, like it has been shaved. That would make sense if a newer neck was installed on a pre-2003 body as the pocket is slightly wider on the newer stuff. Sure looks different than my RG620

Re: Can someone identify this ?

your 620 also has a different tone/volume and selector placement, although I don't doubt the guitar in question is one beautiful axe that probably plays well. question is whether the neck fits the pocket perfectly or not?

Re: Can someone identify this ?

the body is almost certainly the same body as a rg 3020 qm (trust me i know - i used to work for acadamy of sound in the uk) the neck has definatley been shaved as the last 3020 was turned out in 2003. incidentally i own a 3020 and whilst all not all of them had the same neck the majority had the viper profile neck with top dots . hi by the way you're my first post. (ps are you sure its a basswood body, more oten than not ibanez in their infinate wisdom attatch maple caps to mahogony body's where pickups are body mounted)
