Cosmo Hardware, still the same?

Hey guys, I have a 2550 GB that I bought some years ago, and naturally, the cosmo paint of the knobs and bridge wore off. Was this problem ever resolved?
I'm thinking about getting another, but this time it's a RG2550Z GW (which are newer), they come with cosmo hardware too. I was wondering if it's going to wear off as quick as the other did.

All I can say is that my 2003 is the worst and the 2006 is the best as regards wear, but I think they can vary from guitar to guitar.
