difference between RGT3120 and RGT3170 aside from s.coil

In Japan, RGT3170 is the top of the line Ibanez guitar, even more expensive than J custom RG8670. In consideration of this fact, I am seriously thinking about buying RGT3170. The only problem is that it is not available here in U.S. I can order one form Japan but there's a U.S. model which is very similar to T3170, RGT3120. All the specs and brief descriptions I've read indicate T3170 AND T3120 are identical except an additional single coil in the middle. Am I right or wrong?

i actually dont like having a single coil in the middle. I prefer the switching options of a 5 way on 2 humbuckers.

as for the other differences, I dont really think there are any.

Apart from the midle single coil, I think they are the same guitars.

no difference, thats how the ibanez numbers work. 70-hsh, 20-hh

in japan the color options are different also.......i dont think you can get the VV color in the US

Yep- that's my old RGT3120TDB that I gave up in favor of a RGT3120TV. Very very sweet guitar, but my dream was to put white pickups in a TV so the TDB had to go! The TV is my fave axe... awesome necks on those.
