Edge Zero replacement timeframe guess

Anyone care to guess as to when they think Ibanez is going to make a bridge to replace the Edge Zero ? That is, something that will fit the stud spacing. The Edge Zero is different from anything else.

i don't think they ever will...maybe they'll phase it out in like another 10 years or something.

It all comes down to whether any of the patent stuff, that's been the impetus for it's evolution in the first place. If some of those laws apply, they'll change it (improvement or not remains to be seen) just enough to get around them and you'll see a replacement.

i'd like to see an improvement on the edge zero, we have enough free floating trems (edge, lo pro, edge pro etc). they need to refine the design slightly and use better quality stuff.

Re: Edge Zero replacement timeframe guess

What's the problem with these trems?
I'm lazy when it comes to string changing so I tend to keep my strings until one breaks, and let me tell you, I've had the same strings on my EGEN for 7 months, and I haven't had to tune up beyond a couple of turns on the micro tuners. That tells me that
a) I haven't had a string break yet (usually get lots of string breaks down at the bridge)
b) the thing keeps the tuning pretty good.

I play that guitar 5 or 6 days a week practising/band rehearsal.
I speak as I find, but so far no complaints

All the best

i run mine with the ZPS bar in. after about 3 hours or so of shredding and insane whammy bar technics (95% push downs, i don't pull up much), it's usually about...1/5th or so of a semi-tone out. i don't know how much that is in cents. either that or if all the strings but one are in tune, the one that is out will be about the same sharp or flat.

i would run it in free float mode, but you can't get the bridge level with the studs with 10's even with the spring tension at full, so you never know if it's actual level. you can't check with the knife edges like on an edge or lo pro or something. and i'm a complete noob at full free floating bridges so it keeps lifting up and i have to reset it, so i'm just gonna leave it in ZPS until i find some higher strength springs.

Thanks to Ibanez's exellent decision to limit the trem to 2 springs and tiny sustain block, all in exchange for a system that returns flat on pull-ups.

Please Ibanez, bring back the Edge Pro, or just bring back the Edge/Lo-Pro, you did it on the reissues, you can do it full time. You achieved perfection with those trems, trying to improve perfection is doomed to failure from the start.
