electrical problem on rg prestige

on my month old rg2550z, when turning the volume knob up without any contact on the strings, there is usually a scratching sound that comes through the amp. also happens with the tone knob when the volume is up.

it changes and where on the volume knob the scratches occur and how bad they are changes.

if i have my hand on the strings, there are no scratches, so i'm assuming it's some kinda grounding/electrical problem as opposed to dirt in the pots or something.

this happens on my old squier strat too, but i never payed it much attention.

what's going on?

yeah, it could be any of those things.

but, let's just say it isn't, what could it be inside the guitar?

It's not the guitar.
