Question

Evo / Fred combination on my 8470??

Hi everybody...

I really enjoy my new J Custom 8470 in black onix...

However, I don't really like the sound of the Tone Zone on this one... Maybe it's because it's a mahogany guitar, I think the tone is a bit too "warm" for me... From the pickups I really like I think also that I prefer ceramic pickups...

I like the Evo, but have only played one on a jem... How do you think it would fit a mahogany J custom?? If I put this high output Evo, maybe it would fit better with a FRED in the neck... (I love the FRED neck pickup on my RG GEAR)...

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your imput

Tone Zone on mahogany is very muddy. You can switch it to Air Zone instead. It has a clearer and more refined tone. I know a few guys who have switched their pups to Air Zone (Mahogany bodies)
