Finally!...2 months!...RG 2550EGK!

...box and all!...man, I tell you, I might be on ludes but this guitar sure makes a difference in how I play!...all my licks on my old battle axe slide out of this thing like buttah!

I just love this guitar. I know the Jems and higher ups are fine instruments, but this will do me just fine!

I plugged it in the store to make sure it worked great, and it did. I did notice some buzz on the open low E and a few lower fretted notes on the A string.

I brought it up to the guys, but they said that the setup with low action makes NO buzz almost impossible. I figure you can squeeze a lil more sustain without the buzzing, but it's not such a huge problem.

I love the color, and the pickguard is unique..not that shabby, but yes I'll get the mirror guard eventually..probably when I upgrade the pickups....which sound to my ears fantastic. I'm just getting used to humbuckers in the neck position...I still prefer the single coil there, but that's what my old guitar is for!...Yngwie!....plus, no volume drop from going bridge to neck using 2 humbuckers, so that's bonus.

I will probably post some pictures, but you all know what one looks like, and I'm just too busy playing right now. All I can say is I should have bought a higher end guitar YEARS ago. This thing is just amazing, and it stays in tune quiet nicely! I don't like new strings, but they'll get broken in soon enough....sounds kinda bright for me right now.

Sustain, sustain!...wow.

..hmm, what else....I'm thinking of putting on strap locks, but the fitted case seems to not like thick attachments to the posts..not sure what I'll so in that case.

Just wanted to say to all how happy I am with this amazing guitar!

Cheers!

...I wonder if I'd enjoy a seven string...perhaps someday!...I've just noticed some wear already on the pickguard from my heavy picks....ha, no problem there, I have it to play and you can only see it at an angle...man, what a great guitar!

Re: Finally!...2 months!...RG 2550EGK!

..you sent yours off to be modded?...man, I can't put the thing down! And I can tell the difference between pickups now...if 'real' dimarzio's or others sound even better?...well, that would be unreal!...I'm not into EMG's all that much, what with the batteries and all that. I'm happy with these for now, and if I replace I'll just go with 'signature' model pickups...it seems pickups are the hardest things to try out, as you can't just walk into most shops and ask how such and such a pickup sounds.

I'm very happy, now the only thing limiting my potential is my effort and time. Even if it is 'placebo' I can certainly play passages on this guitar MUCH easier than my old battle axe Yamaha. It's just crazy fast, and looks like a million bucks (in my opinion).

..just yesterday I was wondering if the 'thrill' of cracking that sweet case and looking at the 2550 was wearing off...NOPE!...man, that guitar is just sweet!...and this is the first time ever I've had two guitars, so swapping between the two is great!...I still love my old Yamaha, if only for it's neck and sentimental reasons (my first guitar!).

I miss the feeling of waiting for a wicked guitar and cracking open the case in awe. I dunno why but after working at a guitar shop for 8 years every time I crack open box or a case to see something like a Jem, J-Custom, Les Paul, PRS, etc... nothing puts me in awe anymore. I mean when I got my RG8670 and my JCRG-2 I just opened the box, checked to see if everything was there and then just closed the box and headed out to work. I think I've been spoiled being around nice guitars all the time... oh well..

lol I'll be lucky if I ever get a J-Custom (which I plan to do before getting any Jem).

Congrats on your new 2550 dude. Those new RG2xxx series are simply amazing.
