Question

Finding out info on my guitar

Hi all, I checked the USA Customs page regarding models and stuff, but I am not certain the exact specifics of my guitar. In fact I am not sure it is even a USA Custom, but I think it must be. I am hoping you all can help.

I have a serial number I can reference, but I haven't found anything on the website about how to use it.

Here's what I can tell you, I bought the guitar sometime ago in the early 90's, it has a blue/green solid metallic finish, 2 humbuckers 1 single coil in the middle all of them IBZ/USA, smoked chrome knobs and floyd rose. Sabertooth inlays on the frets, must be rosewood .. maple neck??? (3 pieces).

So can anyone really PIN this down to it being a USA Custom?

I have video of me playing it on YouTube if you really want to see it, or I could post a pic.

I got back into playing it again after a long hiatus and it is bringing back lots of great memories and still sounds great.

Thanks to all who can help.

Please posts pics. From your description it sounds more like an RG770 than a USA Custom.

I am beginning to think that it is not a Custom .. because..... I don't think back in the day I could have afforded a USA custom, but then I wasn't sure if there was a cheaper looking base model?

Here is the pic:

Re: Finding out info on my guitar

It is an RG770. Made in Japan, assembled in USA (if it has the North Hollywood or Bensalem PA neck plate).

Looks like a 1992 model. If the serial number starts with F2, it's a 92.

It starts with F3 so I am guessing it's a '93.

Thanks a lot everyone..

not to revise and old dead thread, but I was trying to find the specs for this on the website, I am specifically trying to find the scale length in comparison, cause my next guitar is gonna be something different.

Thanks all.

Standard Strat scale - 25.5, I believe like all RG's and Jems.

The Ibanez SZ series is 25" scale which I think is the same scale as a PRS. Give one a test drive if you get a chance. I bought an SZ4020 and have owned the SZ520 and both played very nice and felt comfortable.

ah.. I love the magic of the internet..

Ironically I am looking into an SE Singlecut (I played one and it felt real good), although I am debating to forking over a few more bucks for a LP. Although I really could kill for an SC 250.

Re: Finding out info on my guitar

I am re-ressurecting this thread, cause I am now actually considering selling this guitar.

I haven't seen many for sale, the old maple neck lazer blue ones I've seen had a re-issue so I have an idea what those go for but not sure what to price this one at...

Nice guitar. 1993 RG770 in emerald green. My first quality guitar was a 1992 RG760 in laser blue. Played like a dream. Don't sell it. Play it like you stole it!
