Fitting a 9V battery...

...into the trem on my 8670...!?

I've seen and heard many places that people "lock down" the bridge by inserting a 9V battery under the trem while changing strings etc.

When I try to do it, I just can't, hehe. I'm afraid the trem will get destroyed!
It seems to hard to make sense! I certainly don't wanna "try it out", and if it doesn't work i'm left with a totally useless guitar..
This is a very good method when changing strings, but now I just let it stay there and re-adjust it after I've replaced the strings. Which takes a lot more time! Is there any other method that works just as good as the battery??

Help please!!

Re: Fitting a 9V battery...

I've tried a few different methods... one that seems to work well is buying a couple large erasers... shave them down so they fit between the body and the trem... and wallah. Works like a champ. Nice and soft, has enough give, and won't cause any damage.

It's not about the surface of the battery. It's about fitting it physically under the trem. I can't bend the trem far enough to get the battery inside...And it seems like the trem will break if I do...!

Re: Fitting a 9V battery...

I just use a bunch of guitar cleaning rags to shove into the claw of my Jem7v, they're soft so there's no damage and it holds the trem well.
