Fixed bridge RG Prestige anyone?
Just up on the Japanese Ibanez website:
http://www.ibanez.co.jp/japan/el_gui...rx/rg2081.html
If it had a
mahogany body
and an Ultra neck, I'd be all over it.
But very cool to see a higher end
fixed bridge
.
Also, a new koa-topped Prestige, with a LoPro:

fixed-bridge prestige
swwweeeetttt.. just what I've been dreaming of
I thought Ibanez would never make one.
That koa top prestige is not that new I think. I think I remember someone talking about it a while ago? and I've seen a used one being sold too.

i think a high-end
fixed bridge model
needs to have a maple top or at least a wood finish... glen

Yeah... it looks like a poor value compared to a 421. For that kind of cash, i'd expect something better than black hardware on a
basswood body
with a solid gray pewter finish.

I wouldn't even necessarily say a wood finish, but I'd have thought something a little more special than erm ... "grey".
Personally I'd have gone for a mahogany body in SOL (special oil) finish.
I know that they have to have a "mean and moody" version to get the downtuning brigade interested, but even "BK" a nice classy black finish would have been better.
Maybe we've misjudged the Japanese mindset (after all this is for the Japanese market only) or maybe once again Ibanez hinders itself with a poor colour choice?

I think personally that gray pewter looks great. You dont really have to polish it as it almost always looks clean and ages really well, but they should make up for the look with a nice inlay or something like that

It's a bit disappointing, based on the fact that besides the Prestige finishing my 421 is the same guitar sans middle pup (which I would never use anyway). I have Dimarzios in it, and a way cooler paintjob. I agree with Glen: wood finish, be it trans color or stained oil or something. Just not that lame pewter.

sniperfrommars1: Are there two of you?

You said: "thats definitely one of the ugliest guitars Ive ever seen. That flat paint is awful"
But your twin says:
"I think personally that gray pewter looks great. You dont really have to polish it as it almost always looks clean and ages really well, but they should make up for the look with a nice inlay or something like that"
But, hey I understand. It's like a typical discussion with my wife.

I emailed GLenn several weeks ago because someone was using my username
and had also changed my profile around. Turns it it was my old drummer. That koa prestige is very pretty thats definitely on my LIST so to speak. So to avoid the confusion Ive changed my password and Will further state that grey pewter looks like pooh

it needs to have mahogany body,
string thru body
and most importantly, set-in mahogany neck.
