Gibraltar Plus bridge questions

1. What are the reasons this bridge is "better" than the lower model Ibanez fixed bridges?

2. Are the saddles individually adjustable? It looks like the two big screws on either end of the bridge are the only adjustment, don't see any saddle screws.

Anyone have one and want to make any comments about them? Thanks.

Re: Gibraltar Plus bridge questions

1. dunno if i'd call it better necessarily, but it does have a few features that some prefer over your standard gotoh hardtail bridge. for one thing, there are no sharp corners like there are on the saddles of the hardtail. it has quite a bit more mass, so that arguably is going to sound different than a hardtail string through (as well as that fact that the stings do not string through the guitar). imo, it's all preference and i prefer the old school hardtail, but to each his own.

2. no, not individually adjustable, just the 2 big screws on the end. but it is radiused to be perfectly aligned with the wizard profile.

Re: Gibraltar Plus bridge questions

to answer no. 2, the Prestige Manual discusses how to intonate these bridges. The two big screws sets the bridge height and there are 6 screws per string on the rear-side of the bridge to "adjust intonation". I'll have to scan the diagram Ibanez provided...

Re: Gibraltar Plus bridge questions

Thanks guys. I was thinking of getting another Ibby hardtail, thought I'd step up to the Prestige. I have a hardtail RGT and I love the feel of that style of bridge (had on most my guitars).

A TOM style bridge does not feel the same to me, so it's not as good to me. From the looks of the Gibralter, it may sit in a way that doesn't feel as comfortable to me like the TOM does. Figured I'd get all the info I can about it, because no one local has had a hardtail RG Prestige....oh the problems of GAS via the internet :-/
