Well, the only one you are likely to find is the 8470

Hmmmm......Guitar hunting in Tokyo......don't we all love that.

I would just go and see which ever rocks your boat. But check quality. Last time I was seriously disappointed in the overall J-custom product quality. My RG2550 of a couple of years old had better built quality then some of these "high" end models I saw displayed in Tokyo. For that sole reason I opted out.

Just go hit one of the big stores like ishibashi and play whatever they've got. You'll find SOMETHING you like. Personally, I found the JC's to be of much better fit and finish than the prestiges, particularly the fretwork.

I had a trip to Japan two years ago and picked up a JC, and that was the best trip I ever had. When you're used to a Guitar Center selection, shopping in Japan is like an orgasmic experience. Hit every shop you can, play everything they've got, sleep on it, then go back and get the one that you feel strongest about. I'm hoping to go back in a month or two, and if I come back with fewer than two JC's, something will have gone horribly wrong.

I must confess, it does get a little embarrassing. Count yourselves lucky you don't have to see things like that week in week out.

Am I the only one to spot the 7 string in the middle of the botton row? Has anyone else seen an RG with a JS BTB finish before??

Get one that YOU like. It's not going to play any better if you get it just to make others happy. I suppose you were asking for model #'s, but really J Customs are the best. So get the one you like plain and simple because you can't go wrong with J Custom. I wish I was going, I'd love to check out those shops in japan. Do us a favor and take lots of pictures so those of us can live variously through your visit. The pics can be guitars and/or hot Japanese chicks. Have a nice & safe trip!!
