gr-20 vs. vg-88?

What is the difference between the two? Also, is the RG1520GK (thats the one with the gk-2a roland pickup right?) compatible with the two?

The GR series are guitar synths, basically a unit that delivers keyboard synthesiser sounds but controlled from your guitar as opposed to a keyboard.
The VG series are guitar modellers, that give a huge number of guitar sounds including placement of pickups, tuning of strings and amplifier modelling.
And yes, the 1520 will control both.

yes i do agree with you... but you should be looking at the gr-33 its more complete than gr-20

Or even better, an Axon AX100 MkII. That's what I'm planning to buy to replace my GR30.
