Re: guitar that hooked you on Ibanez?

My first was an RG550 in Heather Pearl...But when I saw a Jem 777 SK it was all over from there.

Re: guitar that hooked you on Ibanez?

The guitars that hooked me were the DT250 and the radius after my DT250 got no respect and was laughed at because of it's star shape I switched to rg's lol!

Re: guitar that hooked you on Ibanez?

My first Ibanez was my UV777BK. Shortly after I got it I went and had Steve Vai sign it, then I started to buy more Ibanez guitars(I actually wasn't hooked on Ibanez guitars but I just happened to find thier stuff to be well made for the money and had most of the features I needed). I REALLY got hooked on Ibanez after I purchased my first J-Custom (RG1302), from then on.. it's just been more and more Ibanez J-Customs...

I guess it was my friends dad's Ibanez Roadstar II 440 in royal violet finish. It just looked so good to me and sounded when my friend was playing it! And after that RGT 3020 and RG 2620qm models.

Re: guitar that hooked you on Ibanez?

the one that got me on this crazy addiction that is Ibanez Guitars? My beloved RG560 that I bought new at the local guitar store. I walked in and there it was, in lovely flourescent orange (you can see it in the post your RG's thread). When I die, this is the guitar that's getting buried with me.

Re: guitar that hooked you on Ibanez?

Well i had an SZ before my RG. But my RG made me fall in love with alot of Ibanez's. Especially the custom art models and RG565. Though i don't own a CA or a 565, i really would love to.

-The name Ibanez sounded really cool and exotic, Actually a bit turkish :P I don't really know why, but i think it's because the name sounds like a Liberian habitant, said in swedish, which would be "Libanes" (just take away that "L", and change that "S")

-Petrucci was so kickass, so i though you would become like that if you had a monster Ibanez guitar, which was soooooo cool. I really thought it would make a really brutal difference how technically good you are (after all, that was the only thing that counted; how fast you are)

That's how i bought my first Ibanez, an RG170, at the age of thirteen, or fourteen, don't really remember. Geeh, I'm at the brink of turning 17 (OH MY GOD THAT'S SO OLD)

Get out there and learn some spanish my God, Libanes. Ibañez is an Spanish Last Name. No idea why hoshino decide to call em like that...

Not too sure how accurate my Ibanez history is but if I recall, Hoshino picked up the name Ibanez when they were making solely Classical guitars and by naming thier brand Ibanez, people would unsuspectingly think that the guitar would be spanish made and not japanese made. This was during the time when japanese made products weren't seen as a decent product.

Heck if I recall correctly, Japan even had a city that was renamed 'USA' (Pronounced 'oo-sa') and labeled products made in that city as MADE IN USA, JAPAN. This way, it would fool some people into reading it as it was made in the United States. An old sailor I know still has an old clock that was labeled Made in USA, Japan. The things some people do to market thier products as something else. First it was that now it's all these fake Jems floating around.

Re: guitar that hooked you on Ibanez?

I saw a blue Ibanez RG in a guitar shop and i really didn't like guitars with scratcplates (dunno why, i love them now ). I desperatly wanted one. I think it was an Ibanez RG470 or something along those lines.

Then after that, the one that really got me hooked was the Ibanez JEM7DBK. I saw it in Guitarist magazine and thought it just looked amazing

Re: guitar that hooked you on Ibanez?

The first Ibanez I "played" was my guitar tutors JEM BSB, I was only about 14 at the time, and I thought it looked soooooo cool! It was just awesome - I didnt know what all the bits were on it, but I didnt care because it looked as cool as The Fonz!

The first Ibanez I "purchased" for myself, was an RG550 about 1 year after my BSB experience. It was a lovely guitar - and the one thing in life that I regret selling the most! I really do miss it. It had that purple flip-flop paint too.
