GUITAR WORLD AUSTRALIA

Does anyone else buy from guitar.com.au?

they were the cheapest for Ibanez guitars in Australia

until today...

they have jacked up ALL their prestige prices by between $50 and $500

it's bullsh#t!!!!!!!!!

Re: GUITAR WORLD AUSTRALIA

Why would you buy anything locally, going by Aussie prices?

The last few guitars I have bought have come from the US, and even allowing for shipping and customs you still come out ahead!

Cheers

Re: GUITAR WORLD AUSTRALIA

Well, I'll give you a quick example - there is a Tom Anderson Drop Top Classic in a shop in Texas (immaculate, but second hand) for $1899USD - that's $2500 AUD - say $400 in postage (seriously!!), add 5%duty and 10% GST and you come to $3335AUD for a guitar that currently retails (assuming you can find one!) for $7000AUD!

You can apply exactly the same logic to PRS guitars and come out considerably ahead.

Probably doesn't work for Ibanez Artcores though.........

Cheers

Re: GUITAR WORLD AUSTRALIA

it only really seems to apply to real high end guitars like an RGT320Q is now $5100 on guitar.com.au

to get it in the US it's about $3000AUD

but for an RG2670 it doesn't really work

Re: GUITAR WORLD AUSTRALIA

Yep, unfortunately you are quite correct there - however generally speaking I never bother buying new guitars (I don't really want to pay that initial 30% or so depreciation the minute I walk out of the shop!), so in this case I think *B*y may be your friend, or the classifieds here, and try to pick up a good secondhand example.
