Question

H.R.Giger sig. series ?

Don't know if anyone's seen them yet - they just popped up on the Ibanez USA main page . Weren't there yesterday . They look interesting though , and I've always been a Giger fan sooooo ... maybe . Too bad there's no 7 string (yet) as that would make it a priority for me . Anybody have any additional info ?

Yeah, maybe a price ? Sure hope this won't be one of those ultra-limited PRS-sort of things, where you'll pay through the nose !

It's really cool they can use his artwork, but I was really disappointed with the designs they chose though. I think of alot of other H.R. Giger artworks they could have used. There just to plain if that makes any sense.

It's disappointing that they didn't commission Giger to create original works that were designed specifically for the guitar shapes.

They so do a "relief" type artwork on the guitars. It wld be so cool if you can run ur fingers across those textures!

As much as I love Giger's work, I find Ibanez's implementation under-whelming. Too bad....

I'm digging the understated look of those guitars. Different, and noticeable, but not lairy like a lot of the B.C Rich designs. Much more classy.

I hope they are released in Australia, and not at too high a price so I can afford one of those RG's.

Cool

Re: H.R.Giger sig. series ?

I agree the designs could be better - at least a little more 'Giger' like . They do seem plain to me as well . I like the idea of 3D artwork that some of you mentioned , that would be really cool . George Lynch would be envious then ! Still , my main gripe is the lack of a 7 . Many people (like me) use 7 strings for their 'sinister' low range , seems to me Giger art would go well with that vibe . But , hey , it's new and a little different , so not much to complain about at all !

Hey, I'm just happy Ibanez is doing some sort of graphic again! I'm a huge fan of the UCGR's, and this is right up my alley. I'll give it a thumbs up in hopes that there will be more to follow.

Re: H.R.Giger sig. series ?

Since they used now used H. R. Giger's art. Which I thinks is a great idea, but it would have been more interesting to see the art carved into the body instead of been painted. IMHO I think that art on the guitar is bit weak, H. R. Giger has done so much more stuff.

Regards

André

Yeah , I thought the same thing . Most notably no sharktooth and only 2 pups listed . One cool thing - with list at $929 , it should be affordable at the retailers !! One other thing of interest to me , even though the title says NY XIX or whatever , that print looks really similiar to a piece he did as test work for the first ALIEN movie . It had something to do with the concept of how the interior walls of the 'mothership' should look . That fact alone may persuade me to buy one . If not for me , at least a gift for my dad (massive Giger fan !)

Jemm,

nice, but i think it may be too politically incorrect for ibanez though.

Same specs as the Ibanez site have. i gues the mid pickup on the RG is either not going to be there or is a typo.

Why do these have EPII Bridges? Why not EPro?
