Re: Haha, I hate when GAS attacks
I know exactly what you mean
I have my eye on a EGEN18
but think maybe a S5470 would serve
in both cases the ZP return system looks as it might be a booby trap
and the ball bearing system on the S is probably the culprit in sustain complaints
on the other hand the egen18 might not be worth the price if trem issues keep the
guitar
from living up to expectations.
I know Mr Li claims he picked that bridge but I highly doubt that given he was an plain edge consumer before that.
so I'm in a quandary as well
I have my Jem and my rg 550
so it's not like I'm gona die if I don't have a saber as well

I am interested in the neck, it is a neck thru, the scale is the same as my RG and the other RGs, but I dont know if the neck is equally thin, thinner, or thicker. Can anyone clear me on this one?
Thank you all
SL3's are nice, but for 1000 Euro I would NOT buy new. They go used on the 'Bay for about $500-600 US all day long, which is more like 400 euro, right?
Like all the Soloists, they are neck through. The Dinky's are the bolt on ones, like the DK1 (US made) and DK2 (Japanese made). The SL1 and SL2 have ebony boards, the SL3 is rosewood.
Scale length is 25 1/2, just like an RG. The neck is a little bit thicker, but you can shred on a Jackson Soloist, no question. Soloists are simply awesome guitars; everyone should at least spend a few hours on one.
Seriously now, if you have 1000 Euro to spend you can get a US made SL2 (H/H) or SL1 (S/S/H) instead on the used market and still have lots of change. Take a look on the auction site and search on Jackson Soloists, and you'll see a few US ones that come in well under the price of that new SL3. Heck, you'll see NEW US made Soloists come in under the price of that SL3.

But aren't Japanese Jacksons > American Jacksons?
Isnt the SL3 a better guitar than the SL1 and the SL2?

Re: Haha, I hate when GAS attacks
PRS Custom 24 if you can afford it.. all your needs will be fulfilled
But out of your choices I'd go with the RG2570 in PAM variation (Purlple amethyst) as in here
http://www.ibanezrules.com/euro/rg2570zpam.htm
Why ? I don't like how the pickguard looks or the color variations on the 2550 model and I prefer the shark inlays to the dots of the RG1570 (as well as the colors available for the 2570) even though the guitar is pretty much the same I'd say...
It has a middle pickup that I would live without and it has the Edge Zero tremolo. I never had an Edge Pro but my current guitar has an Edge Zero and I can't complain... but I must say I don't use it so much
Maybe you'd like to go with one of these limited editions if you can find it. RG2620Z with the pickups you want
ibanez
.co.jp/eu/products/eg/RG2620Z_CA.html" target="_blank">http://www.<a href="http://www.jemsi...G2620Z_CA.html but with the Edge Zero or RG1520 without the pickups you want but with the Edge Pro

Re: Haha, I hate when GAS attacks
I think the order of comparison goes like this -
J-Custom = USA Jackson
Prestige Ibanez = MIJ Jackson
Indonesian (RG 3-series etc) = Indian (JS Series)
And Jackson Custom Shop is generally a cut above their USA Production line, quality contol etc.

No, the SL3's are not as nice as the SL1 and SL2 guitars, but then they aren't designed to be as nice. Back in '90 when the Japanese Jackson factory started making the original Pros, they were made to the exact same specs as the US guitars and they are exceptional instruments. But the 'same spec' design stopped in '94, and the guy running the Japanese Jackson shop left and formed Caparison.
The SL3s are nice guitars, but they simply aren't as well made as the US instruments. I hear good things about the Jackson Stars line of guitars though, but they are made for the Japanese market only. They are closer to SL1 and SL2 specs than the SL3 is. The top of the line Jackson Soloist models are the SL1 and SL2, that holds true globally.

Re: Haha, I hate when GAS attacks
Once again, thank you for your answers, you guys really explained me a lot of stuff
I am having a brutal GAS for an S5470 Prestige
24 frets, Wizard Neck, ZR2 Bridge
It costs 1367 New on DV247.
I have a somewhat "stupid" question.
Is the sustain on this guitars Good?
I am saying this, because it has a really thin body, and I dont know if that changed the sound very much...

Re: Haha, I hate when GAS attacks
Get the 1550, maple board, good colours and great feel for the price. Basswood shouldn't be a deterant either, and the basswood in prestiges would be much beetter quality wood than the wood they'd have at the Indo factory.

Re: Haha, I hate when GAS attacks
I have the opportunity of getting a used RG2570 that is in PERFECT conditions for 600€...
should I take it?
I dunno if it has the Edge 0 or Edge Pro, but either ways, wow, haha I think it is darn cheap

Re: Haha, I hate when GAS attacks
2570 is very nice guitar indeed. It's not long ago when I got my one with edge pro and I'm in love with it. Too bad the paint seems to come off pretty easily: some of the edges are already starting to wear out. And the pups are at least decent for factory pups. I know i'm not going to change mine anytime soon.

Re: Haha, I hate when GAS attacks
That's a great deal, but bottom line is that YOU have to like how it plays and sounds, not us. Before you drop any $ make sure you are happy with your choice.
Good luck guitar hunting. I hope you get exactly what you want.
Rock on!
