Has the RG body shape changed???

I dug out my 1991 RG570 the other day and it would not fit into my Ibanez signature hard case (Which my JEM and PGM models do). I assume that the shape of the body has changed over the years?? Can anybody help or shine light on this??

Re: Has the RG body shape changed???

I dont think they have, but I could be wrong. I do know some of the body contours have changed. When I look at my 91' 570 (hehe funny we have the same guitar) and I look at one of my other Ibanez's the contour on the back seems to have gotten a little less dramatic, but it's also a lower level guitar and maybe that has something to do with it. Just curious, do you have a black 91' 570? Cause then our's would be identical heh.

The only obvious change is the AANJ.

^ Exactly.

Switching to the AANJ changed how the upper horn intersects the neck...

Standard heel...

AANJ...

Re: Has the RG body shape changed???

IIRC the new RGTs have an elongated "belly" contour, which reaches the tip of the upper horn, in the back of course. no uses for it but it looks so cool.

Mines a Purple Neon coloured one.

Aside from the neck joint I swear the shape has changed slightly due to the fact it won't fit in Ibanez Signeture (For PGMs and Jems etc) cases

Is it tight everywhere, or only in certain spots?

Jim, in hindsight I think you're right - it's the upper horn that won't fit

Re: Has the RG body shape changed???

I've noticed that korean RGs have a slightly different shape in the back than japanese RGs at the top horn; the contour seems to go deeper on the japs.

The neck joint is dramatically larger hence won't fit into a case intended for an AANJ

come on please... read read READ!!!

Jesus, am I the only person who doesn't just read the very first post and then hit the reply button?

RECAP:

regular jointed RG's won't fit into cases meant for AANJ RG's because of the larger upper horn - neck transition

Re: Has the RG body shape changed???

my 1570 is slightly bigger than my friend 450. no idea, dont ask me why, we did a comparision and he tried putting it in my hardcase and it isnt as tight fit as mine, of course the difference is not very big
