HELP! Dimarzio's don't fit in my RGA??

I got the Evolution Neck and Evolution Bridge for my RGA121 and got a phone message from the guitar tech saying that they wont fit without taking the guitar apart.

I am really disappointed, I thought they should fit, what do I do now?

That's strange. I don't see why it wouldn't work. I've installed Dimarzios in a RGA before without any problems. Where'd you take your guitar to?

It was Long and Mcquade in Canada, are Evolutions bigger than the other pickups?

They should fit, just changed the v7/v8 in mine to f-spaced dimarzios,
no problem at all.

Guess you should take a look at it yourself.

First, you need a new tech.

Second, learn to swap pups on your own. It is easy and will save you money in the long run.

Re: HELP! Dimarzio's don't fit in my RGA??

wow, you definatlly need a new tech. who ever he is don't let him touch your guitar, I put evos in my brothers RGA 121 just a few weeks ago, I'm not guitar tech but I did it, everything fit perfectly. I was surprized how easy it was. and that guitar sounds GREAT now. The only thing I can think of is,,,, did you have a pick gaurd in stalled at one point,,,,,,, but even then he wouldn't have to '' TAKE THE GUITAR APART' GOOD LUCK.

Aren't RGA's arched? How would you put a pickguard on it? I guess you could melt one to shape...

Dimarzio's should fit though.

He was saying something about how the wiring for the pickup switch only working with the stock pickups, he also added that the pickups don't fit because they need to be routed deeper.

I don't know if any of that makes sense, in any case I think I will put a stop to it.

1- Then he should re-wire it. Dimarzio has wiring charts on it's site.

2- Get your guitar back lol.

Re: HELP! Dimarzio's don't fit in my RGA??

Evo's are taller, but just slightly. There has been a history of people having issues putting these in 1570's. But yeah, the guy is a r-tard if he can't get the wiring right, and should have no buisness working on guitars. Don't listen to people who tell you to do it yourself, if your not comfortable doing electronics and soldering leave it to the pro's. Electronics is not everyone's cup of tea. If I didn't have tons of Electronics classes in school I probably wouldn't do it myself either.

here's proof that the evo is taller, this is taken from my 3120, both pickups are dimarzio, and both are bolted flush to the body. I would say its a good solid 2-3mm higher

Re: HELP! Dimarzio's don't fit in my RGA??

Also is 2-3mm enough to justify that pickup placement is not optimal? Perhaps this is why he wants it routed deeper, maybe its a good reason?

And the worst part is that I cant get the pickup wiring diagrams for the RGA121 on the Ibanez website for some reason, for all I know hes probably wiring it like a Les Paul, lol.

Re: HELP! Dimarzio's don't fit in my RGA??

Well if the pick up is indeed taller and some routing needs to done, so be it. However this should be done by someone who knows what they are doing.

So far based on what you are telling us, your current guy may not be the best choice.
