Help me out -- buying a new guitar....

I just sold one of my RG3120's (I have two more) and have some money to spend. Last weekend, I was able to play an RGT320Q and instantly fell in love with it. What a freaking beautiful instrument. I had pretty much decided to use the RG3120 money to partially fund the RGT320Q.

Then, I was thinking about J. Customs. I really like mahogany with a maple top and direct mounted pickups and I love Ibanez. So, I started wondering.... if the RGT320Q knocked me out, what would a J. CUSTOM do?

So, make some suggestions. I really despise the vine inlays that are on a lot of J. Customs, so I'd like to stay away from that. I love the offset dot markers and would love to get one with those. It'd be nice to have a middle single coil pickup, but it's not required. I also prefer rosewood or ebony fretboards over maple, preferably with binding. I'd love to get a neck-thru J. Custom (if they make them?), but would be into a bolt-on.

Suggestions? Or, should I just go with the RGT320Q?

If you despise the j.custom vine and want a new j.custom, the only one available is the 8320, which is buttugly to me (but I love the vine so we have a different taste alltogether). Just saw that in Japan the RGT320F BX has been released. So if you want something special that could be the one to get. It looks cool!

If you don't go for the JC that Jim referred to then check out the RGT320q in the classifieds for an excellent price on a NEW guitar. I'm trying to get the $ up for it myself but it will be a few weeks.

You're kinda right. The guitar I described IS the one I sold! LOL! I actually am looking for something REALLY high quality, so I wouldn't mind having one extremely similar to an RG3120 (like the one I sold), but with impeccable fretwork and detail. So, it's not that I was looking for something different than the 3120, just even higher quality (which is difficult considering the quality of the RG3120).

Anyway, some news: I actually settled on the RGT320Q! I teach out of a store that's an Ibanez dealer and got an AMAZING deal and just couldn't pass it up. It's on order and should be arriving soon. I'll post pictures when I get it. Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

.... I'm sure I'll eventually get a J. Custom, too, though.

Oh, and GAZ, about the DiMarzio/ IBZ pickups -- they sound really sweet in the RGT. I'm not sure if it's the neck-thru body, but they're really warm and full. I'm not sure if I'm even going to swap them yet. I'll have to play it through my own stuff first. But, they sound pretty good.

Congrats. The RGT320q has been a source of GAS attacks since I first held one. I hav an RGT3020fm to play on right now but eventually will nab the RGT320q.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying you HAVE a 3120 for sale or that you're looking for one? I just sold a 3120.... I had three of them, it was kind of overkill. Actually, I had four including the one from e-bay (see other thread), but that's getting sold to a student unless he flakes out.

I've never played an RGT3020fm. Pretty nice axe? You should post pictures in this thread, I'd love to see it. And, yeah, the RGT320Q is outstanding. It's Les Paul/ PRS/ Suhr quality all the way. In fact, if someone offered me the nicest Les Paul or PRS, I'd still take the 320Q as I prefer the tone and playability. Suhr on the other hand, that's a tough one. They make some fine instruments.
