Help with a guitar decision (RGT3120, RG3120, or JCRG-3)

I know it is my call to make but since I will probably never have the luxury of playing one without ordering one can anyone tell me how the RGT3120 compares to the RG3120? The RGT has everything I have ever wanted in a guitar. The only thing I am uncertain about is it being neck through, how does it sound/play/feel. My other option here is importing a JCRG-3VV, I doubt anyone has played one but if anyone could give me thier opinion on it, or an opinion of a similar j-custom that would be great. I am leaning a bit towards the standard RG3120, merely because it is a little more available, what do guys think of these 3 guitars?

I have two rg3120s, and I like them alot.I put a steves special in one for a little variety. They are both excellent value for the dollar. And capable of a wide range of tones. The neck is pretty wizard like and feels good.I haven't played a rgt yet,but the neck is an ultra, like the rg-pr2 you played. You probably won't go wrong with any of them. mike

I would go for the purple RGT3120
I like the RG3120 as well, but a neck-thru is sure a nice spec !

The play and the feel of the RGT in incredible...didn't think I'd like the glossy neck but it was no problem. As far as tone, it has certain characteristics that I can't put my finger on...lots of sustain and a little bright. I ended up selling mine, but keeping it I would have tried different pups. The neck is the fatter Ultra (vs, the RG with the Wiz). I believe the JCRG-3 (still available??) has the Ultra neck as well...similar to the 3120 but for some reason I liked the tone on those better.

I just ordered an RG3120TW, it sure was a tough call between the RG and RGT3120. Though I have always been a bolt-on player and I really couldnt see myself owning something without a heel joint, plus the satin finished prestige bolt-on necks just feel so amazing.

Soloist good call on the rg3120. I have a rg-1880 and it is my favorite of my guitars. I had a rgt-3120, but sold it. I really could not deal with this strange kind of fuzzy sound that it had in the upper mid-range. I actually ended up buying a jackson SL-2H and as far as neck-thru's go it is a way better guitar. I 'm really not sure I would recommend the rgt to anyone. Although it did play great and looked amazing.

I just love the quilt looking flame on my 3120...Chris sure hooked me up! Yeah, there isnt a tone I cant get with this guitar..I sure can get a great acoustic sound with it. I looked at GC the other night...all I can say is SEE THE ACTUAL FLAME ON YOUR GUITAR BEFORE BUYING! I saw the ones at GC and it looked like a piece of scrap wood! I guess if you're buying a jc...and the company you're importing from doesnt mind you can check it out before buying it.

Man...I'm already starting to miss that RG3120TW! I still haven't found one with a top that compares. Glad it's in good hands though!

Texshred, you dont know how right you are with that statement. I have seen so many 3120's that have had horrible flame tops, there have only been 2 out of probably 20 or so that I have seen since 99' that I really liked (of course those were reserved and/or pre-sold when I found them). Also, since chesbro was out of 3120's (well at least in TW) I was forced to buy mine from musicians friend. I got a great price but I didnt get to see the flame top before purchasing. It still surprises me that most companies in the states wont give you a picture of the guitar you are buying and yet every purchase that I have made through ishibashi, when I requested it, I have received several photos of the guitar I was buying. I hope that this 3120 is what I am looking for, both in flame and in color (both seem to vary quite a bit from guitar to guitar.), I guess I will have to wait and see when it arrives
