I don't own one but I played a friend's Prestige SV and loved it! The axe has a unique feel to it. The PRS looks better IMO.

Re: How are you guys liking your SVs?

I still haven't seen one out in the wild around here (San Francisco/Bay Area) - no one has them in stock. This is a shame, as I'd love for one to be my next guitar when I am in a position to procure it. My roommate has the same trouble, but is looking to pull the trigger on one of Rich's sight-unseen.

It's a shame, though - I'd expect this guitar to fly off the shelf and actually be mad successful for Ibanez .. if they'd only push the damn things out to retail.

I suppose I've (... we all have ...) learned to accept some degree of idiocy from Ibanez. (:

Anuj, Ibanez can't make any retailer buy anything any more than I can make you buy something. Retailers are only going to buy what they think they can sell, and it isn't exactly the most popular of models.

If you haven't noticed the AHNG's are already on closeouts and not being replaced. They made it 1 year only.

Rich: Mine was really just a wish that these were better represented. Perhaps marketed better? That's about the only way they have to get anyone to buy anything. I get nothing out of blaming anyone - I do what I am able to by asking about it.

And yeah - the color on the .co.jp site that replaces it is f(star)ck(star)ng hot. Hope that moves a few units.

The A isn't being replaced. That's the burst F the rest of the world had last year we're finally getting. We'll still have the blue also.

I meant the A - http://www.ibanez.co.jp/products/eg_...&series_id=231 .. this wasn't a color for the US .. is it coming?

Should I just wait and see?

I thought you were talking about the FDSB.

The A is done for now in the US.

Re: How are you guys liking your SVs?

I recently got an SV5407F (Flamed blue). I am really enjoying playing it. It compliments my Jem7VWH nicely – very similar feeling neck but sounds different. The Jem7 is more harmonically rich and sings/sustains better on leads. The action of the Jem is a bit higher, especially in the upper registers making the SV easier to play fast up there.

I’ve never played a PRS standard 24 but I do have a CU24 artist package that has the same ‘standard’ cut neck that that the std 24 has. It doesn't sustain quite as good as the CU24 or Jem7 but is very full, snappy and articulate. When I first A/B them I thought the SV was a little beefier and louder than the CU24. I like the locking tuners much better than the old bat wing style on my PRS. Very quick and easy.

The PU's in the SV are not as hot as some of the shredder guitars (RGs and Jacksons) I compared it too. I was not able to compare it to a S5470. The PU's are fairly hot but in a vintage sort of way. It can do many styles well not just the harder stuff. The single coil tones are really nice, much better than my PRS CU24 – the SV a very versatile guitar. Does the 80's hard rock and metal very well, as well as older classic rock and blues. I like the feel and function of the SynchroniZR tremolo better than the PRS’ too.

It’s a shame they’re a discontinuing them already, if I understand some of the comments on a quick run through of this thread. I think that the main problem with the guitar sales-wise might be that it doesn’t appeal the shredders because of the pickups and non double locking tremolo.
