How do you have your guitar set up...?

What is your setup like? Do you have really low action with some buzzing, do you have it set at a moderate height with no buzzing and better tone/ sustain? Is your neck perfectly straight with little to no relief or do you have significant relief? What's your trem like? Does it arch forward, is it straight, or does it arch backward?

I personally like really low action and a straighter neck. My neck doesn't have a whole lot of relief in it and the action is pretty low, but some of the notes buzz (only in two places where it can really be heard). My trem is nearly straight across, but it's arched back a little bit into the cavity.

What's yours like?

One of my guitars has the Rich Harris set up and it's the best!

Low action and never have any buzzing. Everything is set perfect.

hes one of the better tech men around..

I set mine up very low with no buzzing..

Setup isnt as hard as some people make it out to be. You just need the right tools and a good understanding how things work..

Its not rocket science.

but some make it out to be..

Action: very low, but not too low. It buzzes. I say so what? It's more playable and I don't need to sustain a note for 3 days. Distortion masks fret buzz anyway. I actually like the more percussive attack you get from a little buzz.

"Listen to the sustain, man!"
"I'm not hearing anything..."
"Well, you would, if it were playing".

Neck: very slight amount of relief, but close to straight.

Trem: balanced. Perfectly. Not angled forward or back.

What does it mean when only one note on a particular fret buzzes? For example, the first fret "C" on the B string buzzes, but none of the other notes on any other strings on that fret buzz. Only that note on that string.

Anyone know what's up with that?

The fret in front of the note that buzzes is maybe a little too high or has become unseated. Have it looked at and maybe have the frets levelled.

I set it as low as it get till it buzz then raise it up a bit, and the pickup not to near to the strings

Actually probably not enough neck releif. I prefer medium action (around 2.5mm to 3 mm, evo has almost 4 mm so >.>

But, it's only one note on the first fret. If the problem were related to neck relief, wouldn't it happen on ALL the notes on that fret...?

i prefer to have my guitars different setups, because whats the point in have a bunch of guitars that feel identical you know what i mean
so i have one with somewhat high action, and my 3120 has low action, but my rg560 had extremly low action to were it was probably on the frets around the 1-5 frets, but i make sure there is no fret buzz, because its not that its annoying but if you play on clean it doesnt sound well etiher
