I sanyone else incredibly dissapointed?

I looked on GAK on friday as they said they'd have some listings down early feb due to all the NAMM stuff, they had no BC Rich gunslinger retro as of yet but back to my point; I check Ibanez and was pleased to see they have the "JTK3" and "JTK4" as well as the new FR models (at stupidly high prices) looked at the S.. .no new S prestige etc.

But then, I went through the RGs.
RG2550Z, this used to be about £50 dearer than the 1570 so just under £500 really. Now I look at it, nearly £800.
Is the price of the Edge Zero really that high?

Re: I sanyone else incredibly dissapointed?

That price hike on the 2550 is completely ridiculous.

As for your main thread question, my answer is "yes". I have been fairly disappointed with Ibanez for about, hmmm, 15 years.

No-one's going to buy from this country at this rate

But to echo, Dee's sentiments (without allowing this thread to turn into a hate-mongering free for all) I'm not happy about Ibanez's guitars this year.

I'll need a lot of convincing about the new Edge Zero, but probably less convincing about the new 24 fret Gotoh Floyd equipped Suhrs I'm seeing on the net. (which can also be bought from a friendly US dealer for roughly 60% of the cost they are in the UK)

Yes, my intention wasn't to post hatred towards Ibanez, just to make it clear. I hope the thread doesn't turn into a 20 page moan-fest.

Thanks for the heads up on those Suhr's, Jono.

Re: I sanyone else incredibly dissapointed?

Edge Zero is chinese made. how can they charge 3000$ for a guitar with chinese parts? i know, the SZR Chinese Custom shop are suppose to be great, but EZ isnt chinese custom shop.

also charging the same for the korean versus japanese prestige S? that's rather odd, i dont think i get that. is koreanmade prestige REALLY as good as japanese made prestige? just odd... i wont judge the korean prestige S' i havent played one... someone else?

overall they really brought in some nifty finishes and options, but I _personally_ still miss more prestige fixed bridge options

Re: I sanyone else incredibly dissapointed?

according to the beloved website that covers ibanez@nammfest it actually looks like that from closer look too.
well, the signatures still have the Edge Pro..
it was about time i quit using FloydRose......

the EZ is suppose to be from better grade material, but who knows how is the machining process , i guess someone will have to test both of em and then tell how they hold over time

Re: I sanyone else incredibly dissapointed?

Wow didn't know that, there must be another reason the price has gone up so much :-/

Well I won't be buying one at all anyway in Ibanez terms I mainly want discontinued ones or signatures (PGMs and JEMs)

Re: I sanyone else incredibly dissapointed?

Why does the routing on the new models have a big gap between the bottom of the trem and the body? Are they just shoving the edge zero into bodies that were cut for the edge pro or something?

You said there were no new S Prestige? Umm, the new 24 Fret S5470, SV5470A and SV5470F are all new. There is also the Herman Li signature S

That's the only thing I can think of. If they'd redesigned the bodies surely they would have made it fit better? Not sure, but it's ugly having a gap like that.

Wow, that's a big difference in price between the 1570 and 2550z! It's a no brainer, buy the 1570! Plus I'm not really keen on the look of the new trem.

Unless it's something spectacular, I'm not going to be buying a new guitar in the UK any time soon. Cost way too much, like those RG20th's. What were they going for? £850? I picked one up in excellent/mint condition (so I'm told, not got it yet) for much less than that.
Plus buying a Suhr from Matt is much cheaper than ordering one here. I'd hate to think how much my new one would cost over here!

Re: I sanyone else incredibly dissapointed?

The reason for the gap behind the EZ was explained as some idiots were leaving thier intonation tool on and forgetting it and chipping their guitars using the trem with it still on. The lamest excuse I've ever heard, because if you're dumb enough to leave your tool on you deserve to get the chips, and the rest of us shouldn't have to pay for your stupidity with oversized routs.

I added a bit to my EZ review now that I have one in.

I was talking about when I looked at the guitar amp and keyboard centres website, they haven't got any of the S prestiges, or the herman Li model in yet.
