Ibanez 2017 NAMM Speculation Thread

I could not help but notice, Rich is having a close out sale which includes about half of the good Prestige 7 string models because they have been discontinued. An event such as this usually marks the beginning of NAMM speculation season. My hope is these 7 string models will be replaced with new 7 string models of equal quality and perhaps a new feature or two, but that might be pushing it. (I think it would be cool if every Edge/Lo Pro Edge equipped guitar came with the carbon fiber whammy bar. )

So as rumors and cold hard facts are made up, post them. (I assume everybody has seen the JEM's on the Dimarzio website?) Additionally, we could also try not hating on Ibanez quite as much as usual. You know, just to try it.

Yes, thank you for posting the pic! There is also a picture of Vai with a Shocking Pink Jem but it looks very new and very red. Perhaps Dimarzio just wanted contrasting colors between ads but that seems like a lot of work to tailor a photo shoot around an out of production guitar that does not use the pickups Dimarzio is advertising.

To my eyes, the guitar in the pic above looks more "baby bluish" and has a maple fretboard. If the 70G prototype had a maple fretboard than its possible.

Fair enough.
This is Tosin Abasi's "likely" new signature model: https://www.instagram.com/p/BKwbKEoDlxo/

Re: Ibanez 2017 NAMM Speculation Thread

I'm wondering if this becomes a production model.
Looks like the PGM80P in terms of the square heel joint and the Wilkinson trem but 24 frets and HH pickups.

Re: Ibanez 2017 NAMM Speculation Thread

I certainly hope they introduce some new Prestige+ 7's. It would be a shame if there was such a sizeable vacuum from all those discontinued. This year was so interesting between the UV's and the small run fancy colors based on the 752's. I saw at least four different mini-runs. I hope they keep doing more of these.

You do know that's all secret until they tell you it's not? Like when my rep tells me it's ok to post the 77WDP, only to get an email from Japan the next day telling me to take it down ;/

Prop models, any dealer can order them in the minimum batch, and as soon as I believe they can get me 10 good necks out of 12 guitars I have several ideas I'd love to order.

Count me in for at least 2-3 7's.
