Just got an 8470A from Ikebe Gakki (gorgeous AAAAA flamed VV maple top!!) and I'm wondering if anyone knows if these were a limited run and how many were made. Hopefully I can post some pics for you guys soon.

Nice buy! Let's see some pics! I was asking my dealer about the 8470(A & F) the other day. The "A" represents the limited 5A top. Taken from: http://www.ibanezrules.com/new/rg8470.htm

Thumbs up

Re: Ibanez J Custom 8470A VV

Awesome top and love the colour !!! I saw somewhere less than 30 were made ??? It's an RG8270/RG8470 hybrid in someways, in fact it's really an RG8270 with 5a top and matching headstock. The RG8470F is not available in vintage violin, has a different neck inlay, flamed maple neck binding, a thinner neck and a different neck finish !!!! The maple tops on previous J Customs have varied greatly from 2a to 5a, the RG8470F's I've seen all seem to be 3a tops at best. So was the RG8470A the last of the high grade tops we'll ever see from Ibanez ???? I hope not.............

Thanks for the info GAZ. 8470F's have an FE color which looks similar to the VV. I wish Ibanez would come out with some 5A QUILTED maple tops!!

I agree !!! 5A quilt is awesome, you never know your luck though !!!?? I've seen a few Ibanez's with more or less 5A quilt tops (Some of the RGT3020s for instance) I'm not sure if the new colours' names have lost something in translation but 'Prominence' and 'Fire Agate' don't really give you any clue as to the actual colour !!

Re: Ibanez J Custom 8470A VV

Jimbo 72, how do you actually pay for guitars at Ikebe? I had just received an e-mail back from them that the guitar I want is available but they don't accept Visa/Mastercard or AmEX, ...they sent a form to charge JCB, which I assume is "Japan Credit Bank?". Did you do Bank transfer? If anyone knows FOR SURE, please respond as I know the guitar wont collect dust for long. Thanks!
