Ibanez RG 2550 stock pups:BASSY???

I just got my RG2550 about a month ago, and i find the sound of the stock pups a bit muddy. Im running it through a Line 6 Spider 2 30w through a Digitech BM and BOSS SD 2. Even in clean sound i find it really bassy. I had the amp eq BASS almost all the way down and the TREBLE almost all the way up. Basically i want to know if the stock p up is really bassy. And if you have suggestions to how to even out the output of the guitar please feel free to give you suggestions. Ive also been considering changing the pups of my guitar if need be.

thanks

If anything they're quite bright sounding !!! You can raise the pup height and unscrew the pole pieces to make them closer to the strings ( c.a. 2mm when fretting the last fret of each string.) That will give you more output and a brighter sound. The tone control on the guitar is working ok I assume ? If your strings are more than a few weeks old change 'em !!!

mine are exactly the same, I replaced the bridge with an evo and it is way more clear and more bright. Not as bassy but still good bass response

im actually in the process of deciding if i should chnage the p up but thats after i have exhausted all my resources in terms of settings and everything, i ll start with changing the string. If there are other 2550 user, please feel free to chip in your ideas.

thanks

Raising the pups/adjusting the pole pieces makes a huge difference, I did it with my 2620 which sounded weak and muffled out of the box. It's quicker than changing strings too !! Do that and then change the strings afterwards for maximum effect !

pull your trem backwards as far as you can, hold the strings down to the last fret, adjust them as close as you can without touching,if you get strange readings from your tuner or hear a strange sound....back them off a half turn at a time until it goes away

About a 1.8 - 2mm gap between the pole piece and string when fretted at the last fret. You can fine tune by adjusting each pole piece with the tool supplied. Good luck, it worked for me !!! Try using less distortion also at first then increase to taste.

Factory setup leaves the Pups too low on these. Raise those son' bitches.

I keep saying this too, and the high action as supplied makes things worse still !! Just goes to show that most retailers don't even check them/set them up either.
