ibanez rga 121 prestige

Hi All,

Im new here but have been using Ibanez all my life... in my opinion there is nothing that even comes close to that wizzard neck!!!

Im about to buy the above... the rga 121 prestige in Mahogony.

Just thought i would put it in here to see if anyone has anything to say about them... good or bad..

Thanks in advance

I love them, I actually have 2 121s (Mahogany and Natural) I'm thinking of selling one of them as I just don't use it enough

Cool man!

Whats so nice about them?

I use an s series i forget the exact model but its the one with the crazy tremelo system where you can adjust the tension of the tremelo from the back with a wheel.
I absolutely love that guitar.

Recently just bought an RG 370 and i was very VERY surpised how good it actually is. I still may change the pups but still excellent!

With this being a prestige i can only imagine how good it actually is!!

I love the "ruby" metallic color on the 121H model. Gorgeous!

Re: ibanez rga 121 prestige

I have 3 RGA121's - 2 natural and 1 violin flat.

the good:
1) an awesome fixed bridge design
2) awesome neck - similar to RG3120 and other Prestige necks (non-shark-tooth necks that is)
3) extremely good value. You can pick them up pretty much mint on the bay for about $500

the (not so) bad:
1) the pickups aren't great, but are easy enough to change if you are so inclined.
2) I liked the one so I bought 2 more.

I have the natural one and love it. One of the best necks I've ever used. Mine is all stock, I thought the pickups sounded great so I left them in.

I've got one with the violin flat finish. The only mod I did was to put on the Planet Waves auto trim tuners. I absolutely love it - just an all around solid guitar.

Re: ibanez rga 121 prestige

is the gibraltar bridge on the rga121 susceptible to rust?

i was told it was built like a tank.

thanks

Re: ibanez rga 121 prestige

Some of the plating has wore off of mine, but no rust. Shouldn't be a problem if wiped down after use.

Re: ibanez rga 121 prestige

Yeah the chrome plating will wear off revealing copper underneath, otherwise it looks amazing in the crushed ocean finish.
