Re: If Ibanez made YOUR signature model...

The more I play it, the more I feel like my Talman TC-825 would be a good basis for my hypothetical signature model. However, the neck is pretty small - 41mm wide at the nut compared to 43mm on a Jem/RG, and similar neck shape to a JS - and I'd probably widen the neck, install bigger frets, and beef out the neck shape to something a little more like a Telecaster.

Re: If Ibanez made YOUR signature model...

If it were completely custom(not a customized rg/s type) it would be a double cutaway style, arched top w/ set neck &:

Body:mahogany with maple top/back abalone binding on edges-(gibson red wine, ibanez vintage violin finish or clear coat)

Neck:birdseye maple, ebony board w/ viper profile no inlay-abalone binding. I'd want a 3+3 headstock(think short/fat ibanez headstock) 2 carbon fiber reinforcement rods. 25.5 or 25.25 scale

all compartment covers maple, not plastic w/ orginal art inlayed.

Pups:SD jazz (neck) JB(bridge) White w/ gold bobbins

Ibanez ZR trem w/ locking tuners and roller nut( Pearl gold hardware)

3-way switching w/ coil tap

2vol, 1 tone knob (metal dome knobs in...you guessed it pearl gold)

Re: If Ibanez made YOUR signature model...

I own RG7621,which suits me well. So,my signature guitar should be basically the same, with following differenses:
1) Reversed headstock
2) Ultrabright-snow-white-metallic body and headstock
3) DiMarzio Tone zone 7 (bridge),
3) Pickup switching similar to JS1000(3-position switch & coil tap,I made it on my guitar)
4) Chrome hardware

Re: If Ibanez made YOUR signature model...

Heres the list.

1 - RG body with angled bevel edges.
2 - Mahogany, Quilted Maple Top. Trans red. The trans red would have an undercoat of black, sanded back, underneath it though. Like Carvins Deep finishes.
3 - ZR7 Trem with the arm holder switched to the OFR holder.
4 - Evo2, HS-3, warmer Neck pup (Something like the Neck Dim/IBZ from an S2170, but less muddy and with matched output to the Evo2.)
5 -AANJ 5 Piece super wizard profile
6 - Reverse headstock
7 - Flame Maple Binding on the neck and headstock
8 - Ebony Fretboard
9 - J-Custom Style Vines in Flame maple
10 - Miniswitches for coil tapping, and an all pickups killswitch.
11 - A freakin Peizo!
12 - 24 frets, scallop the last 7.
13 - Extra deep pullup routing.
14 - A better sustain block on the trem.
15 - Stainless steel fretwire.

Re: If Ibanez made YOUR signature model...

Hi to all:

Here is my dream and signature model. I expose the idea in Ibanez Forum. What do you think? Someone would buy this guitar?.

Spec:
- Neck: 3 pieces of Maple Wizard neck. Matching head stock, small perloid dots inlays.
- Fretboard: Rosewood.
- Radius: 430 mm.
- Nut: 43 mm graphite.
- Tuners: Gotoh Magnun locking tuners or Planet Waves autotrim locking tuners.
- Body: Basswood (standard model) - Flame Maple top over Mahogany.
- Pickups: V7 and V8 for standard models.
- Pickups selector: Dimarzio three position switch (like JP).
- Controls: Tone and volume 500t.
- Bridge: Gotoh 510 FT-1W modern, fulcrum and low profile tremolo. (they have locking stud, Steel saddles and block)
- Colors: White - Grey Nickel - Black - Magenta Crush.

Pros:
- Simplicity.
- Affordable price (Thinks about $300 Edge pro v/s $125 Gotoh-510).
- All hardware parts are from Gotoh.
- Continuing the tremolo trend like Musicman (Petrucci) and Suhr (Modern).
- Availability of spare or replacement parts.
- Easy customization (like graph saddles, piezo bridge, tremol-no, Hipshot tremsetters etc.)

- Gotoh 510 FT-1W modern tremolo in the Us $3.000 Suhr Modern guitar.

Re: If Ibanez made YOUR signature model...

Mahogany Body, thicker than typical, carved maple top, RG shape

Maple Neck-Thru, shaped like my favorite Les Paul

either 1 of 2 pickup setups-
1. dual Duncan Alnico II Pros
2. Dimarzio Steve's Special/Air Norton
both direct-mounted

cosmo hardware, double edge trem, 1 vol 1 tone, purple plastic knobs, 3-way toggle switch (bridge, bridge/neck split coils, neck), piezo mini-toggle, piezo blend switch

transparent quilted purple matte finish

abalone SEELE inlays (google it) on fretboard, large one on the body

22 frets, jumbo

rosewood fretboard

3-on-a-side headstock

black body, neck binding

pretty back-asswards if you ask me but it'd suit me well

Re: If Ibanez made YOUR signature model...

Lately I've been dreaming of something weird.
V assymetric V shape but in the same way as the carvin ultra V or the Jame Byrds super-avianti.
24 3/4
24 frets (gibson like)
tele modern bridge but with gibson string spacing
radius JS/fender like 9,5"
neck not too thin
neck maple / rosewood fingerboard
Alder body
Pick up => two noiseless tele pickups
reverse headstock
