Is RG1570 that good ??

Hi Everybody ,

iam new to guitar world , still learning though

and i wanna buy a new guitar , but i just hate to get a beginner one , cuz i even like guitar as a value , so iam willing to pay up to 900$ , so the best i found in this range is rg1570 prestige the one with 5 pc walnut neck.

but then i asked a guitarist friend , he told me it is very good no doubt , but it is very over priced cuz tis japanese hand made , so u can get at half price a guitar with close specs like may be rg420eg ,

so my question is , is there really no big difference in ratio to price as my friend says ,
or the rg1570 is much better that i should get at this price , or may be someone recommend another series ??

Thx in advance for ur help

get the rg1570. it has the edge pro, which beats the **** out of an edge 3 on the 420.

they are very good guitars and they are not overpriced compared to an american strat or a les paul.

Or he could save money and buy a used Rg550 since the Edge is preferred more than the Edge Pro it seems and its cheaper of course.

The 1570 is a nice guitar and it is priced rather fairly for what it is but I liked it better a couple years back when they cost only $750. The rg1550 is in the same price range so you may want to look at that plus I love the feel of maple necks. Don't get a 420 if you want spend less money try to find a used prestige or an earlier made in Japan guitar like the rg550.

Yeah, me too. I prefer the look of the PG w/ HSH rather than just the HSH.

Why would it being japanese made make it over-priced? shouldn't a well made guitar make the price worth paying? A 420 wouldn't be as well made in any case.
I agree with you not going for a beginner guitar though, I think if you want to learn an instrument you should have one that will make you comfortable enough to keep going and put the extra effort in.

Also I agree that a 1550 would be better, I hate the metal plates at the sides of the pickups it the cavity, it just looks like the couldn't be bothered to cover it...

Re: Is RG1570 that good ??

Personally I love mr 1570, I got it back when the price was lower (actually I got mine for £600 through haggling :P).

I'm not a fan of the 1550, but I don't like how pickguards look, so personal taste really.

Obviously a prestige guitar is going to have a bit more attention to detail than a non prestige, and I wouldn't settle for a lower grade trem than the edge pro.

My only problem with the 1570 is the colours they do them in now, I'm glad I got my cosmic blue one.

Whatever you get around that price range, if you change the pickups out for some aftermarkets, you'll have much the same guitar as some of the higher end prestiges.

You can probably get a decent late-model RG1570 or RG2550 used for $600 or so. I'd go that route or save a little extra and buy a new model or a new RG1550, which are pretty sweet.

Since we are on the subject, what's the difference between 1550 and 1570 ?

Is it just the pickguard... (Ibanez Noob alert) I just graced the spec list and couldn't see anything right away...

Just the pickguard and the 1550s have maple this year.

I think there's a difference in sound between a rear routed standard guitar like an old RG570, a rear routes guitar with direct-mounted pickups like the RG1570, and a front routed guitar like the 550/1550's. Front routes sound a bit more nasally to me; not in a bad way, though.

Re: Is RG1570 that good ??

The RG5xx are basically neutered Prestige guitars. The important components are shared with the 'real' Ibanez guitar range, such as the neck and tremolo but the rest is outfitted with lesser parts to bring the guitar down to a reasonable price point. My main issue with the 5xx RG's are the pickups. If you are learning contemporary genres on guitar a used RG 520/550/570 are some of the best guitars to start with.
