I've worked out the S Series aint for me...
Can't remeber what the name of it was. It's a discontinued one with a sunburst top. I can't find it on the Ibanez site or Ibanez register so I'm somewhat at a loss.
Anyway, it cost £1299. Tried it out through a
Marshall JVM
and really couldn't get to grips with it. Mabye I'm too used to my RG but the guitar just didn't sit well with me. I play in the classic sitting position and without the wood from the RG, it just felt like there was air between me and the S-series and I couldn't play very well on it.
Wasn't massively fond of the neck. 22 frets aint for me.
One redeeming feature though. It had a great sound. It had 2 humbuckers, both Dimarzio and a
Mahogany body
with no piezo. I really liked the sound but couldn't play for **** on it. However, I am picking a very similar RG version of it from the classfieds section on Jemsite, so...
Does anyone know what model this guitar was and what pickups they were. I couldn't find the guitar on Ibanez's site, nor Ibanez register so I'm somewhat lost
Cheers!

Aha that was shortlived! Call off the search! I think I may have found it.
Might have been an S3620FM.
I'm pretty sure that at the 12th fret they were 2 small dots and not the wave, and that it was a 5 piece neck rather then a 3pc with bubinga (?) So I'm still not sure
Looks like they were
PAF pro
's though!

The S3620FM is £1199 at GAK.It's a high spec MIJ model from 2003 but does sound a tad expensive.

I like my S1220, it sounds great. I see Chud's point (it's completely different playing on the S and the RG, body/neck wise).

Re: I've worked out the S Series aint for me...
As far as S guitars go...that is a pretty nice one. I've seen it many times before.
The price is a little high...it's the Uk, what do you expect.
Sill it's a far better S series guitar than what is currently availble.
It has 2 paf pros and a 3 pc.
super wizard neck
, which is the same dimensions and spec as the original ANNJ Wizard I guitars.
In the end, it is one of the last examples of what the S series guitars used to be.
The Trem is ZR version one, I believe...it doesn't have the thumbweel adjustment for the
trem springs
. It has the allen key adjustment, which is prone to breaking.

Looks like they were PAF pro's though!
IT would actually be 3 small dots and if it was a 5 pc.neck, it was a korean
prestige guitar
, which sucks by comparison. IMHO.
I don't think they ever made a 5pc. neck that wasn't a korean wizard II.
Someone prove me wrong.
