J-Custom Egypt

Specs:
•Basswood body; maple neck; maple fretboard.
•Body is hand-carved, hand-wood burned and hand-painted. *Matching headstock.
•Pickups- Probably Tone Zone, Blue Velvet, Air Norton.
•Only one on the planet, and the guy who owns it won't return my phone calls.
•Price: *$5000.

I've been trying to acquire it for 4 years now. *
Enjoy the pic. *It's the only one I've ever found.

And I got to see it in person, the week after it was at the NAMM show......in a glass case, under lock and key, at Guitar Gallery in Disney, continuously reinacting the Waynes World scene where Wayne is starring at the Strat......wishing I could be him saying "today, I'm going to buy it!"

Note to Kev: for some reason, I'd be willing to bet money the phone number you have is NOT the Egypt owner.

Todd- you could be right, but I have the guy's home and business numbers. *

If he's not the current owner, he certainly knows who he sold it to *:-)

Man after hearing all the hype and buildup on the RG-Egypt on this forum I was expecting something totally different than the picture... *I kind of expected graphcis like the Iron Maiden Powerslave cover but instead it looks like a bunch of stickers on a wood finish...

You guys didn't really expect HC to spend more than 3.4 seconds at the Ibanez booth, did you?

They're the Ansel Adams of Ibanez guitar photography, huh? *

lgascoig- Trust me, I have NEVER seen a guitar with this much detail. That pic doesnt do it justice. All of that work is routed in the body about 3mm, then hand painted. Even the headstock is routed.

Thanx for posting a picture. Maybe i'll never gonna see it in real life, but it looks ok to me, but $ 5000? Damn... i wouldn't have paid that much.

I guess you can't tell from that pic. *It looks like one of those guitars that show up on **** when you search for Jem but it's really someone trying to sell an RG they changed the pu's on and slapped a couple of stickers on for good measure.

Hey Kevan every thought of commissioning a custom shop to do you one just like that? It would be pretty cool.

I find it really hard to belive that information on this guitar is shrouded with such a vast amount of mystery! What do the folks at Ibanez have to say about this guitar? I wonder.

Chris.

That's intersting to see. *I always had in mind the "Egypt" as a guitar pic i saw that had a full-color Pharoah's head screened onto the top...that must have been a Schecter custom shop?

Here are a couple other Egyptian motif guitars I've found on the 'net.

Big thanks to Peter McGilton's site- www.ExoticGuitars.com for the pics. *
AMAZING artist, and a nice guy too!

Price: *Starts at $15,000. USD.
Don't forget to check out the other true works of art at Peter's site. *Dragon Lyre anyone?

From our Ibanez-friendly folks over at GMW Guitars/Empire Guitars:

Price: *I think this one sold for just over $10,000. USD.
Be sure to check out some other WICKED ones here:http://www.gmwguitars.com/empirecustoms.html. *Some sweet tops and AMAZING inlay work.

Last, from the guys at Fend*r- a tasty Tele:

Price: *No clue.
