Yep. Color is named "Silky black", but I think it's still more green... No matter, I still like it. Best guitar I've ever owned. Nice one you have ShellyOFG

I have a 2570z Prestige and it plays incredibly well. I have never played a J-Custom. How much better would a J-Custom play compared to my 2570?

the fret ends on j-customs are properly rounded and i think the necks have some different finishing touches. apart from that, not a huuuuuuge difference i think.

What extra money ? I think there is no relevant difference in pricing.

Actually I'm a bit confused, too. I purchased a 2007 RG1527 for dirt cheap from a guy who was completely desperate and was moving. The headstock says "Prestige", on the back it is stamped "Team J-Craft" and it came with a J-Craft case.

Thanks! Having grown up with a dad who was an manager at Fender I learned long ago to choose guitars individually rather than by brand, so I had no idea about this one.

There once was a time that Prestiges were very well made. I have a 3120 from '98 that is beyond awesome. As Rich has said in the past, the quality of Prestige has fallen. Let's hope JCustoms don't follow suit.

Re: J-Custom & Prestige confusion - What makes a J-C a J-C?

The JC's have :

Different fret wire (profile and hardness) and fret finishing - my Prestige shows much more fret wear than my JC's do. I'd say the JC will last twice as long before even a fret dress is needed.
Recessed knobs
Better AANJ
Recessed and angled jack socket
Strap locks

And a higher over all standard of finishing. Plus they're limited in number so are more exclusive.
