J Custom RG8327 Neck- PLEASE HELP

ive been looking all over sevenstring.org for help. i didnt find too much. so I figured i would try here...

can anyone please tell me if they have played this or other ikebe gakki recent J customs (preferably seven string models) ive looked through this forum and havent seen any

I would just like to know what the necks specs are (ibanez lists everything as 19mm first fret even through this isnt true most of the time)

and how they feel....

is it comparable to a UV7BK, RG1527, UV777BK in terms of roundness, thinness etc?

Re: J Custom RG8327 Neck- PLEASE HELP

I have not played a 8327 but I suspect it may be a very similar neck contour to my 2005 HRG4-BX which would make it more similar to a 1527 or modern UV neck.

Rich or possibly Mark DY would be more knowledgable on this if they happen to see this thread, but Im fairly certain if you get your hands on a modern 1527 the shape will be approximately the same as the 8327 you are considering.

The only 7 string Ibanez necks that strike me as seriously much different are the original UVs and 540S7 vs the modern prestige-era necks and JC's. Not too sure on the 2027 and RG7CST maybe someone else can shed light on those necks.

I have an 8527, and the neck on it is very good for a 7 string neck, a lot better than most I've played. It's a really comfortable and easy neck to get around on. Makes playing 7s a breeze.

Eelblack, is that the black quilt Rich had a while back? If so, I'm gonna make a trip down from Jax to check that thing out!

Same model, different specimen. I bought mine from Mark DY who in turn bought it from Ikebe. Its a smokin axe, my main 7 by far.

I shot you a reply on SS.org as well, but in short if you take a 5 piece 1527 neck, pimp out the fretwork, inlays(depending on model), and fingerboard edges, you pretty much have any post 2004 JC7 neck. (Generalism, but its not easy to walk into your local a_mass_musicstorechain_01 and grab a JC7 off the shelf for comparison.)

Old UV necks and 540S7 were the thinnest Ibanez 7's I ever had my hands on. Tolerances also seemed a little wider in Fujigen back in those days as well so you might want to try a few if possible to get a firm idea of the norm.
