J Customs now available in the USA?

I was told today that my local Ibanez dealer can order JC's but at no less than two units per order. Is this new or something that I could've done in the past? My local dealer didn't even know what a JC was until I took them to Ibanez Rules to drool over pics. He talked to the rep last week about it and was told that he can get 'em.

Time to sell a couple axes and save my $ for a nice pair (probably take until '09 LOL)

I don't see why they aren't sold in the States. No one even thinks about them over here. It's funny people in the west want guitars handbuilt in Japan, and Japanese people want guitars handbuilt in the States.

I believe Rich said distributors could always choose to have JCustoms if they decide to order them.

However, I'm afraid if they get popular here over in the US prices will go up even from importing possibly, and they won't be the deal they used to be to some people.

Thanks for the info Drow and you might be right about importing. If that's the case it would work out cheaper and better to goto Rich for my JC needs.

Well, ordering from Rich isn't a bad idea anyway.

The one thing better than a nice J. Custom would have to be a very properly set up J. Custom.

I'd like to see another JC RG21A grace his used section or an JC RGT in black onyx ...... MMMMMmmmmm.

Heck, if I had the $ to throw around I would take one of those nice JS1200's off his hands

And later this year hopefully a nice JC

I was going to post but couldn't figure out where this was until I got the last post email.

I checked into this, my area Rep was clueless, as in, no, you can't. He's on top of everything so it's not like he would be out of the loop, there just isn't a loop. I asked if he'd dig into it and he said he would, but AFAIK nothing about HUSA and JC's has changed.

This is why I felt the need to post about my findings here. The store owner was determined that his info holds water and I didn't argue (he's a super nice guy and the fact that he even remembered to ask for me was VERY cool). His rep is the SE rep by the name of John (I forgot his last name but he's not the nicest of guys). He specifically told the owner that they ARE available for US stores and he had to order two at a time to even get one.

More info would be good. I couldn't afford to order two at the same time and the store wouldn't be interested in stocking one anyway unless one of the other local jemsiters would be interested in placing an order at the same time. Heck, my local store rarely stocks ANY Prestiges or anything with a trem.

This is something I want to do by years end, one of my short term guitar goals is to own another JC before '09.

It's not a big deal one way or the other but it is still interesting to hear this since I've been told countless times that they AREN'T available thru authorized dealers in the US. If I didn't go thru my local dealer I would just goto Rich or Mr.Sparkle (depends who has the model I want at the time I'm ready to order - although I would prefer to goto Rich for his services and to support a jemsite vendor).

It would be a big deal if it was true, but IMO it's just another case of Mr. ick with a capitol D sticking his foot is his very uninformed mouth

If by dealers you mean the local chains (GC or SA) then I'd say you're hit and miss in terms of getting accurate data out of them. This forum alone keeps you far more in the loop. The kids at my locals are, for the most part, clueless when it comes to Ibanez.
PS: I'm guessing Ikebe or something similar is your best bet.

Wonder if what the guy might have been talking about was "J-Craft" manufactured guitars. If they very rarely stock anything, it's kind of questionable whether they know what an Ibanez J-Custom is. If they were widely available in stores in the US, that'd be a very recent development (as they've never been before), very odd that your local store that never deals with them were fully aware of it... know what I'm saying?

That is a VERY good point. I guess I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he knew what he was saying.

That would actually make sense to make them order two Prestige Team J-Craft guitars rather than two J Customs considering the way things have been handled in the past (on lack of JC's for US dealers).

I'll do further investigation

BTW- when are new '08 JC's released? Obviously it isn't at any US NAMM convention
