Just got my RG2420TB!!

I finally got my RG2420TB today. I have been searching for one of these guitars for a very long time now. Seeing it in person, I dont understand why Ibanez doesn't use quilted maple more often, it looks very classy. Well there is sort of a point to this post, I have a question regarding the guitar. I noticed that there is an additional number on the back of the headstock that I am unsure of what it refers to, it is right above the serial number stamp, it reads 010661, it looks like the same printing as the LA custom shop artist models but without the LA in front of the number. Does anyone know what this means?

Though I am sure it is not of much interested to anyone else, I actually took some photos of the RG2420 and since I recently found out that I have some free user web space with my ISP I have decided to put a link to them just so that anyone who wants to know what one looks like can view a non-catalog shot (plus I want to see if my space is even accessible)

Now that's a quilt top. You could d@#$ near drown in that thing!

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!

My goal was to get a 2420TR... maybe I need to start thinking about that again.

Thanks for all of the nice comments about the guitar. Not only does the quilt top look nice but it also has an Ultra neck (my favorite neck). Bduersch, I knew you would have been one of the first to post considering that I saw that the RG2420 was on your wish list on your website (by the way you have got a great collection of guitars on there with equally great pics of them). I have seen the red RG2420, in real pictures, it looks sweet. Try ishibashi, they may have some left.

Well I contacted them back during the summer and they didn't have any, at that point I gave up and bought an RG3120, then of course I email them during late october during the same time my brother was purchasing his RG770FM-DBL and they had 1 left. Once I found it I put the order in and 3-4 days later it was at my door.

That's really beautiful. I also don't know why Ibanez doesn't use more quilted maple. The RG3220 is another fine example.

Is the binding plastic or is it scraped like on the 3120?

I am pretty sure that it is scraped, it doesn't look like any ivory or cream binding that I have ever seen, it has more tan/brown. Though it is really hard to tell because it doesnt have flames to easily distinguish it plus it is a bit more white than the 3120. Whatever it is it looks really nice and its really thick which makes the quilt top stand out much better.
