Lefty RG1570 some problems..

Hello All,
Ive got a few questions really that may require plain advice or just opinion...

Ive got a Lefty 2003(-ish) RG1570, pure black with cosmo Edge Pro etc.

1. So far, its been great but lately its kind of going out of tune every 5 minutes.
I don't use the bar, so I suspected a few others things.
BEFORE you carry on, im going through all the tests for this so I will report back when ive spent weeks trying all the lil things you suggest here ( I suspect its the loose non-locking studs, they wobble a bit when the trem isnt on it so im trying to get plumbers tape ).

2. I noticed the back of the neck has no pin-stripe effect of woods, is this normal for that era of prestige guitars, especially the 1570? Essentially its 3 piece, no allen keys in the headstock area and with a single piece of ( I think maple ) in the middle of the two standard woods.

3. The trem is wearing a big ( paint wise ) and im looking for a replacement, its so hard to find one and when I do its about £200, this makes me wonder if its worth it. Anyone know of some prices for Lefty Edge Pros? Or perhaps suggest a different trem?
I was thinking of actually blocking it off, like what Gilbert used to do, is this a bad idea?

4. Anyone know of any cool lefties coming out in 2008? I really love the RG1570L but its always in black and im getting sick of black guitars.

Anyway, I think thats all to be honest, sorry for waffling.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, I tried some plumbers tape around the stud screws and it worked ( or seems to be better at least ). I stretched the springs a lil, that helped also.

But im still concerned about the neck, did all Prestige come with the darker pin-stripes on the neck, mine only has the maple. Im concerned about this.

Your 2003 RG1570 should have a 3 piece maple neck, so it won't have the 'dark' stripes (walnut) like the 2005 onwards models.

Blocking the trem is easiest by installing a Tremel-NO and locking all the thumbscrews. No routing or woodworking required and you can unlock it anytime. Also, check the screws that hold the nut to the neck as they may be loose or stripped. Hold the nut between your fingers so you are also holding the wood around it and work the bar down and up. If the nut is loose, you will be able to feel it against your fingers. Also, check that the intonation screws are snug and that saddles are not slipping forward, which would also mess up your intonation.
