Limited edition Prestige (3270M) or J-custom (8570)

I have a minor dilema,

Theres a reallly nice RG3270M that has caught my eye HOWEVER there is a j-custom for only £80 more!?? which isn't much considering the Prestige is £1095.

My question is would I be silly going for the prestige over the j-custom considering both are exclusive japan models? Is the J-custom really going to be that much better considering they are very similar in price?

Thanks for your help,

Blair

Ah, Prestige vs. J-Custom... one of the oldest Jemsite arguments!

I think most people would agree that since they are assembled in the same facility by the same people, they are of similar quality.

Personally, I'd go with the maple board on the 3270M over the rosewood on the 8570 because I like the feel better. But I can't see how you could lose in this situation! Play 'em both, and you'll likely know pretty quick which one is magic (if either are).

Re: Limited edition Prestige (3270M) or J-custom (8570)

The 8570 does have a few minor upscale appointments on it like a 5-piece maple/bubinga neck and flame maple binding on the fretboard (and presumably the headstock as well). If you like the maple fretboard, there is also an 8570M as well. But if you prefer PAF Pros over the Tone Zone and Air Norton combo, maybe go for the 3270M instead.

Why not see if they can get in the 8570M, then you'll have the pickups you want and the maple board!

Re: Limited edition Prestige (3270M) or J-custom (8570)

Hmmmm...i'd personally go for the RG Prestige...maple fingerboard, Paf Pro's etc...my kind of play i'd have to change the bridge though...and the middle...while on the J-custom I'd have to change all 3....yeah...

*edit - Duh, didn't get the last posts

Re: Limited edition Prestige (3270M) or J-custom (8570)

My vote is to go for the Maple board too. I have an RG565 and just got a JCRG8570M last month and I prefer the feel of the maple over rosewood... just blows that Ibanez never really offered any variety for maple-boarded models. As for the suggestion to go for the 8570M... hrmmm... if that is an option, I recommend it because I absolutely love mine!

One thing I have to say about mine though... the neck on this bugger is so strong, it is practically flat with almost no relief in the truss rod and setup with 10's.

aww man, i cant seem to find any j-custom maples... its not good. One minute i want the prestige maple, the next the j-custom with rosewood... if only there was a happy medium...

If anyone knows anywhere in UK with a 8570M please let me know!

With the Pound being quite strong in relation to the U.S. Dollar, maybe you could email Rich at IbanezRules.com and see if he can order one in for you. Even with shipping and VAT you could still come away with a good deal, and also get Rich's second-to-none setup.
