Re: Look what I have
Cool, an Ibanez Strat.
Just put in regular single-coils and it will look so much nicer.

Re: Look what I have
Very nice.
How come it has the J-Custom text on the back of the headstock? I never realised it.

Re: Look what I have
no disrespect intended, but i fail to see what there is to get excited about with that guitar, except for the certificate.
if i came across it in a pawn shop, i'd easily mistake it for an entry level guitar. maybe that says more about me than the guitar, though.

That's nice.
What kind of body it has, basswood, alder or mahogany?

Well I don't know about the others who posted, but I love the shape of the whole guitar. RG style with a contrasting pickguard,
maple fretboard
and the Ibanez headstock just appeals to me. I'm not saying these features necessarily make it a brilliant guitar, but it's what appeals to me.
Having said that, if you came across it in a pawn shop, you'd mistake it for an entry level guitar because you didn't previously know what it was. Before you started
playing guitar
, would you have though a guitar like a JS was high end? Probably not. Why not? You wouldn't have known what it was.
I'm not sure what point I'm trying to make, but I think I've made it.

well, you gave it your best shot, anyhow!
my point (if i made it correctly) was that on initial appearance alone it shares many traits with, say, a GIO. 22 frets, single ply pickguard, unpainted headstock, vintage-style bridge. it's only once you examine the finer detail (
locking tuners
, pickups, serial number) that it stands out as anything special.
generally speaking higher end
ibanez guitars
(especially signature models) are a lot more flashy than this one, which is perhaps why it appeals to some.

Re: Look what I have
What neck profile does it have? Wizard, Ultra, strat?
I've always loved this guitar (in fact I had a chance to buy one but I changed my mind right before the buy). If I were you, I'd remove the bridge and clean it up a little (from what I see in the pictures it has a little rust, right?). Other than that is just an absolutely lovely guitar. Congrats.
