Love that RG3120

Man, I just have to say that the RG3120 is a really sweet guitar.

Though I'd also like to get my hands on an RG2820.

The 3120 really needs a bound neck and headstock. And a quilt top. But yeah, pretty nice guitars.

What it really needed was a matching headstock

I've personally never really been into unmatched binding though. Natural flame maple binding on the body looks great, butthen if the neck is bound with white plastic, it's not so hot...

Yup, matching headstock would be killer on the 3120.

And if they also added the same binding on the neck as with the body, then that would be more than killer.

Of course that'll raise the price of the guitar. hehe

Cool picture, nice ride and nice haircut...we must go to the same barber.

I don't have a 3120 but I've always thought they were one of the best values in guitars that Ibanez has put out in recent past. Wonderful tone, great looks, and plays like a scalded dog.

So what makes the difference between a less costly RG, like a 5##? Surely for that much price difference there are some major improvements.

Body is mahogany with a flame maple top instead of basswood. Dimarzio PAF Pro and Tone Zone from the factory instead of V7 & V8. Offset Abolone dots instead of regular centered mother of pearl dots. Those are basically the differences.

I used mine on Tuesday at GC's Guitarmaggedon (luckily I won too) and I have QUITE a few more expensive axes at my disposal to use (for example JEM7SBL, Guild Bluesbird AAA, 1990 PRS Special, Peavey Wolfgang ST, etc.). RG3120 is an AWESOME and very versatile guitar which is also an EXCELLENT value for the money! I tend to gravitate towards playing it these days because I LOVE IT!
