Yes...you are correct, I was off by a half of a neck pickup and pickup ring I can't always rember which is which. The neck joint is stamped 760, the neck was broken and replaced shortly after I purchased it in 90'. Its stamped 770.

Me too. Breeds RULE!! My VRMR has the best tone off ALL of my Jems and it plays like a dream. No probs with the mirror top on mine either. Though I've only had a couple weeks. Great guitar

Team J Crafter. Unless your really into 7's, I'd go with the BRMR A lot of folks have bad things to say about them. Funny how none of them actually OWN one

Re: More guitar porn

Jem77BRMR, That 20062 is a beauty. Contrats! I can't wait for the zebra DiMarzio's I ordered for my 20063. My dealer and I opened the Dimarzio box yesterday and the pu's weren't there. The DiMarzio rep overlooked my order, arrgg... So we expect them today. It's nice to live 2 miles from DiMarzio. The Red Puzzle's on my mind too but I'm only buying one more and I'm done for a while. Hahaha... I said that same thing several months ago.

JJEMMER777, My band is going into the studio for two weeks in Sept(I can't wait! 12hr days of nonstop music! Bring it on) and I was considering a 7 string in the mix. I had a 1527 and it was cool but I've been told the neck on the UV777 is much better.(?) I'm more of a 6 stringer but I like the extra options/voicings available with the use of a 7. I don't write around it(7) since I don't want to back myself into a corner where I MUST use it all of the time.

I'm really up in the air right now between the Jem77BRMR and the UV777. Heck you can even throw a Jem7 in the mix if I keep looking at the catalog(worst thing to can possibly ever have in your home).

Loving that 760 man! Sustainer fitted too,NICE.

That puzzle RG is a beautiful colour too.

Did you have that vine inlaid on a brand-new BRMR neck?
Looks like a nice job but i think i'd personally have had to go for the blue LED's and a sustainer like Vai's Mirror-top 'Bad Horsie'.

Yep. Same guy who did Vai's LED's if that counts for anything

I could have copied Vai's Bad Horsie, but I'd rather be original

Besides, I wanted to show Ibanez and Vai the way they SHOULD have produced them

Re: More guitar porn

Hey TEAM J CRAFTER, How are you liking you new puzzle guitar?? When I first picked mine up, my first thought was...this ain't no Jem or J-custom. It feels kind of cheap to me, and it shouldn’t for the price tag on it. It’s slowly growing on me though. I guess ya pay for it being a limited guitar.

BTW, anyone know what the production totals are for these guitars

Re: More guitar porn

I thought the other way with it. It feels solid and the neck plays great. It might be the fact that I've been paying my RGT20061 to death and have gotten use to the natural finish. Once I play my RGT320Q which is glossed and pick up one of the natural finished it does feel, dare I say "incomplete" or "not as solid as the fished guitars." IMO, that's the weight of the paint & clearcoat and nothing to be concerned about.

I've heard a few stories on the production number. It would be nice to know for sure.

Re: More guitar porn

Yeah, I'm still getting used to the feel of the wood body....it's not clear coated. The pickups are better than I thought they would be too. There hot enough that I can rip false harmonics easy with em'. Do you know what Dimarzio pickup there designed after, or are they something new all together? You know, like the Jem single is close to a HS-2.....

huh huh huh..he said wood

Re: More guitar porn

From the Dimarzio Site, (I hope I haven't broken any rules by pasting this here, but their site is Flash and you can't link to specific pages.) If so, I'll remove it.

" The DiMarzio®/IBZ pickups in the Ibanez RG2120 and RG2570EX are specifically designed and manufactured by DiMarzio® for Ibanez, and they are not available separately. Like all DiMarzio® pickups, they are made in our New York factory. Both neck and bridge pickups are high-output models. The neck pickup is fairly bright-sounding, similar to a Super 2™ (DP104). The bridge pickup is a little louder and warmer-sounding, and resembles a cross between the Steve Morse Bridge Model™ (DP200) and the Super Distortion® (DP100). The R1 single-coil is warmer-sounding than a typical vintage single-coil, and was designed to work well with the neck and bridge humbuckers when they are in split mode. It has a sound similar to that of the HS-2™ in split-coil mode. "

I disagree with the comparisons. They sound good low but once you put them through a nice tube amp you can hear the HUGE difference in quality.
